Now starting day 6 at .25.

Bad food day yesterday. I tried Sophisticat Beef, and 20 minutes later, major pukus.

So we spent the rest of the day on FF Tender Beef, and this morning, a blue AMPS. :YMSIGH:

I know that Wellness and Evo 95% have higher fat content. Kitty puked after the Wellness -- and with Evo's larger cans, I fear we'll waste a lot. (The longer it's in the can, the less appetizing it is to him.) He didn't like Cowboy Cookout. He barfed after Sophisticat. The Evo -- he ate when freshly opened, then wouldn't eat the reheated portion.

I can try Purina Pro-Plan. Everything else is higher than the 3 or 4 carb foods he has been eating.

I just have to figure out what his diet will be going forward. Now I'm wondering whether I should try the new label FF Chicken Feast.

sorry you are having such a hard time with the new food ... but don't worry, 104 is STILL a great number! I know you are used to seeing green but don't stress over this number, really it is a good number!

Re: 4/8 Kitty AMPS 104 after pukus yesterday, PMPS 86

AMPS 104
+5 88
PMPS 86.

Fed Tender Beef overnight, then FF Chicken all day.

WCR: Slept in a box and looked as cute as is felinely possible.

I've thought about it, Sienne, but I'm barely keeping my head above water now. and I'm such a worrier -- no, really! shocking but true  -- that I think I've work myself into a frenzy over sanitary issues. For better or worse, I think I need the security of canned.

hi kathy. about food switches...

i'm not sure how you're switching kitty to other foods. it seems like most people pop open a can and plop it in front of kitty and anxiously wait to see if they "like it"... or not. that method never works around here. what has worked is *transitioning* my kitties to another food. in other words, i gradually introduce the new food by mixing a little bit of the new food in with the old food and slowly increase the amount of the new food every day while decreasing the amount of the old food. eventually, kitty is eating the "new" food only. using this method has worked every time for us and has also minimized tummy upsets.

maybe it'll work for kitty (if you're not already using this method)?

food transitioning

Jill -- Thank you for explaining that! No, I'm following pattern A: Open can. Plop in front of cat. See if cat eats.

We got pukus after Wellness -- just a few bites that he liked, but major upheave. Same for Sophisticat.

I did try to mix foods twice, but they were half and half. The first time, he ate; the second time, he didn't. I think I've just confused him and made him anxious about his food.

Could you tell me how long it takes you -- a week? Two? I am nearly out of old label FF, at least the flavors he likes.

So many kitties are walking away from the new label FF. Do you think it would work to try mixing the two FF's -- old and new?

i try to transition in a week, but i've taken as much as 2 weeks for canned foods and longer when i transitioned to raw. it all depends on the kitty. i have 2 here who will eat almost anything, but the other 2 are sooooooooo picky!

the slower you take it the more likely kitty won't notice the difference. depending on the size of the can... divide it in half or quarters. freeze whatever you won't use over the next day or two so you don't waste it. then start the transitioning process gradually... sneak in the new stuff! :-D
i really don't know if mixing the two FF's together would work or not. you'd have to just try it.

Thank you so much, Jill. I will start tomorrow. I'm not sure what I'll try to mix in -- I have about four new foods here! -- but I'll pick one.

Panic receding. I feel better. :-D
