So last night Ripley joined the LL Saturday Night Coast-to-Coast Pajama Party ~ and earned herself a reduction  .

She did great.
And I also have to pat myself on the back: this was the first time I stayed calm, cool, and collected while handling low numbers. No reminders to breathe, heart wasn't racing, no running to the Emerg. Hypo Box (I casually walked, thank you). Even when I saw that someone had eaten my Emergency Chocolate that I keep in Ripley's Hypo Box (shaking fist at DH), and when I saw that the last of the ice cream had been eaten (even though DH said he didn't like cookie dough ice cream ~ still shaking fist), I remained calm. "I got this" radiated from my every cell. I believe I've turned a corner, LL. :-D

Oh, and Ripley's doing just fine this morning.

I'll be back later to check on condos... I-)

Re: 4/7 Ripley AMPS 109

Morning Josie and wow, that was some pj party last night. I was reading Ripley's yesterday condo early this morning! Congrats on the reducie. You handled it like a pro which you are by now! Oh no on DH and the chocolate. I guess we know what he will be doing today for you, replenishing the chocolate for the hypo box. Have a great day. Ripley is looking amazing.

Have a great day today! I see chocolate and ice cream on your shopping list today....

4/7 Ripley AMPS 109, +3.5 139, +6 83

Hi, Ann, thanks for the congrats (for me and Ripley  ). I hope the emergency-sweets-supply will be replenished, but I have a feeling I'll have to do it ~ and HIDE it  .

Hi, Michelle, thanks for visiting this morning ~ my shopping list has more sweet fuds on it than healthy fuds  . Last night was fun ~ I can do non-school-night PJ parties w/ no problem    .

Ripley is having to work for her treats lately, and she's not very happy about it. I've been putting her treats in contraptions that she has to figure out on her own (i.e., stick her paw in a hole, or roll the tub for the treat to fall out). Her strategy? She watches me drop a treat into a toy, then she sits there and squawks at me over and over again. Finally, when I walk away, she tries to get the treat. But it takes her a while to get it, if she's able to at all. She's still learning...   . I'm such a mean mamabean   .

   What a great report for Ripley! Thanks for the lulz today, Josie :-D Best of luck with the new dose, and hiding your ice cream

Re: 4/7 Ripley AMPS 109, +3.5 139, +6 83

Congrats on the reducie and making it through last night without freaking out. I think you definitely need to stock up on the chocolate, and hide it. Ripley is looking good today.

Re: 4/7 Ripley PMPS 120, +2 112, odd breath smell

Hi, Courtney, Carla, and Kat! Thanks for stopping by earlier :-D .

I noticed an odd smell coming from Ripley, from her breath I think. It does not smell like nail polish remover (thank goodness), nor cat food. It's hard to describe ~ doesn't smell rotten/rancid... I'll call the vet tomorrow and see if she can get an exam. She has a great appetite (better than ever!), and chews normally (although her food is so watered-down, she slurps normally). She hasn't had dental issues before.

I hope everyone in LL is having a great evening!

Re: 4/7 Ripley PMPS 120, +2 112, odd breath smell

See if you can get a ketone test just to be absolutely sure it's not ketones you're noticing. Beyond that, unless Ripley has indigestion or a rotten tooth, I haven't a clue.

Re: 4/7 Ripley PMPS 120, +2 112, odd breath smell

Those are good numbers for a pj party hangover. Zener's breath was awful before his dental and he had a couple of infected pockets. Sending good vetty vines.
Liz

Re: 4/7 Ripley PMPS 120, +2 112, odd breath smell

Here are some vetty vines from us. Hope all will be better tomorrow. Could it have been one of the treats Ripley ate?

Have a good night, guys,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 4/7 Ripley PMPS 120, +2 112, odd breath smell

Hi, Sienne, Liz, and Ella:
Ketone test is negative. (I love it when she 'goes' on demand  . BM is good, too.)

It's not really a food smell, can't describe it well. She eats freeze-dried treats (has since dx), and they haven't made her breath smell before.
I was reading that old food caught in teeth can smell, but so can bad teeth/gums. I tried getting a good look, but was unsuccessful.

She's acting normal (but I know cats are pretty good at masking discomfort). I'll know more tomorrow, if they can fit her in for an appt.
In the meantime, I'm not worried. There's nothing I can do about it right now anyway. Except balance my checkbook, just in case there's a dental in her near future... :-|

Re: 4/7 Ripley PMPS 120, +2 112, odd breath smell

ohmygod_smile ohmygod_smile it didn't even occur to me last night that you might have been able to use some moral support. I was busy in Health but could have checked in. Looks like you did great and I will have to keep the chcocolate bunny in mind for Gracie..JK.

I think you International coast to coast pj party people have WAY too many rules

Hope the breath issue is nothing.

Marje, there's no reason for the OMG forehead-slap faces ~ I did just fine. It felt as easy as pie last night (ooh that should be on the human treats list for PJ parties  ). I've finally learned that I'm the one in control during low-numbers-situations. :-D

We probably do have too many rules in the I.C.T.C.P.P. ~ we can't let our kitties know about these rules, as we all know how cats feel about rules (they like to throw them away ~ or in Ripley's case, she like to chew on them first, then throw them away  .)

I, too, hope the breath thing is a non-issue. I'll take a good sniff tomorrow morning and hope for just regular cat breath, as opposed to the old-man breath we're smelling tonight. I know, terrible, but it's the best comparison my DH and I could come up with tonight :? .
