Yesterday...

First red AMPS in 9 days... but he went 17+ hours under 200 yesterday! :) He's still over 300 more often than not, though, since he'll have a good cycle, then bounce for the next 2-3 cycles. I don't think there's anything I can really do about that, other than to give R on the first cycle of the bounce to try to keep him under 400 without pushing him into another bounce.

........??? I was just trying to keep him under 400, but Chino had other plans. His response to the same dose of R is so unpredictable. I know he responds more dramatically when a bounce is about to break, but he normally doesn't begin a bounce near the end of the PM cycle, then break it on the very next cycle.

AMPS = 446 (1st meal)
[10 units L, 1 unit R]
+2 = 340
+4 = 242 (2nd meal)

You're doing the best you can. R is tricky and so are cats. The last few times I used R with Doodles the same unpredictability occurred. I'd probably get a +6 if possible to see if Chino is going to slow down or pull a fast one on you today.

When I retest and get a number that differs significantly, I think it's more often due to sample size than meter variance. I just got a +8 and thought it was going to error out, since the blood didn't reach all the way down in the slot, but it read 190. I tested again with a bigger drop and got 225, which is more in line with the previous readings. (Small sample size was the reason I marked the +4 on 3/08 grey instead of yellow.) I've also read that test strip age can have a significant impact on accuracy, but I open them in order of expiration date, so that's not an issue. This is just a note-to-self to pay more attention in the future and not test a drop that looks too small... it will either error out or read too low. I waste at least 5 strips per week this way.

Yes, I did the same. Yet another instance where you need patience!

Chino's body is starting to learn to live with lower numbers a little better. He's bouncing slightly less. So the profile of what he does on Lantus might be changing a bit too.
