Once a cat is officially OTJ, does the testing continue every day, twice a day?

Nice start for Solider this morning! Almost there.

Someone should be able to answer your question later once more people are on the board.

You need to change the plus sign to an equals sign in the link to your Yesterday condo ;-)

I think most people slowly wean back on the testing, going eventually to once a day, and then to a couple times a week.
Just remember Soldier is still diabetic, so you will probably always have to test him once in a while to see how he's doing.

Wink has been OTJ for about a month. Did testing once a day for about a week, then twice a week testing for about a week. then once a week testing for about a week, then once every two weeks.

Also, I'll test if something looks funky in behaviour or eating.

Mainly, it's weaning the bean off the testing so the bean feels comfortable not testing. Still give Wink treats, not 5 times a day anymore. He still loves those freeze dried chicken treats and wants at least one piece every day.

I'm still testing because Shadow throws me borderline numbers... got a 118 on 4/3 so I'm being more cautious.... want to catch anything as early as I can.
She went otj with borderline numbers so it could just be what's normal for her.....
I just don't want to be complacent.

It's mostly what you are comfortable with....
others are happy testing once a week.....

Way to go Soldier. Gotta love the green numbers while you are on your trial.

Maria. I think everyone is a bit different in how much you test. Weaning myself off it was pretty hard. And I still get worried about him. Today it is exactly 6 months from when we started our trial. I probably test about every 10 days or so. Can't imagine going monthly. But, we are preparing for surgery and a dental and he threw some high numbers when we started him on an antibiotic. Sooo, needless to say, I've tested a bit more.

Hope that helps. After spending so much time testing and getting to know how they respond, you will probably be able to spot when Soldier's 'off' or such.
