Recap of yesterday's BGs:

AMPS- 125
+3- 111
+6- 105
+9- 78
PMPS- 112 (vomited beef flavored cat food :? )
Fed Salmon flavored cat food 10 mins later, kept it down
+3- 63
+6- 70

Still on 0.05u of Lantus and primarily feeding 2% carb food unless Cini drops below a BG of 65.

This morning's AMPS was 145 and his +3 was 124.

I am beating myself up because he is clearly going back in to the blue zone. I must be doing something wrong. Maybe I should go back to 0% carbs? ohmygod_smile

Cini says this all has nothing to do with him because he is the quintessential essence of perfection. :-D

I also noticed this morning there is a tiny air bubble in the Solostar pen cartridge. I am very careful not to inject air in when I draw insulin out so I don't know how it got there. Does this mean my pen might be compromised or go bad soon?

Re: 4/6-Cini Mini-AMPS 145,+3/124- Bubble in Pen ?

You are not doing anything wrong. Cini is a cat. He has a mind of his own. Or, his pancreas may be tired.

Your pen is fine. Sometimes, bubbles happen.

Re: 4/6-Cini Mini-AMPS 145,+3/124- Bubble in Pen ?

Cini is looking great!! Sienne is right, you are doing awesome. I kept Willie on foods under 2% for a long time and I do think it made a difference. Now, I find him to be less affected by carbs in that 5-10% range, though at times he'll spike on a 10%.

And don't worry about the air bubble. Depending on the size, you may be able to draw it out. Hold your pen with the rubber tip facing up. Use the dose clicker at the other end to make sure that the black stopper is fully against the insulin. Insert a syringe and move the pen until the tip of the syringe is within the air bubble, then draw back the plunger. It will draw in the air and some insulin and your bubble should disappear. Either use the insulin in the syringe or just discard all of it.

HTH!

Thanks so much for the quick responses ladies. That makes me feel better :-D

Christie, I would have never thought of that to get the air bubble out! Thanks so much, I'm going to try that at next shot time.

Re: 4/6-Cini Mini-PMPS 70

PMPS is 70

I fed some 4% carb as insurance.

I shot a 54 once before, but I'll still check Cini in an hour to make sure he's ok.

Cini says you don't like blue fine I'll surf the green instead - you were right he is the quintessential essence of perfection
