Hi All,

Day 2 and we have some slightly lower numbers :) Hubby did the mid-day reading for me at +5 ish but struggled bravely at +7 (poor H had 4 pokes done in each ear apparently before he gave up). He called me at work and explained he was struggling and I said leave it, make sure food is out and H was looking OK. Hubs needs more practice bless him.

I managed to get a PM reading last night as I was on a work do until late so I am EXHAUSTED tonight as the kiddos decided to wake every couple of hours too - plus my mums cat decided to wander in and 'sing' for us on the landing at 2AM!!! Mums cat part lives at ours as she is only just down the road so often we have 2 furballs for company.

I am struggling with the new syringes/drawing out as I seem to get lots of air bubbles with the new technqiue? Any tips?

A 2am kitty serenade - how special! @-) Drat those air bubbles! Hmmm - I let the insulin sit out for about 5 minutes to let it warm up a little. Then I draw the joos in slowly. One other thing is that I push the syringe plunger in firmly and hold it there before I stick it in the insulin so there's no air stuck in there to start with. This whole experience starts to turn you into some sort of mad scientist, I swear....

That's funny Tara

I'm having trouble with air bubbles lately too... Plus I think a bad batch of Terumo syringes, but that's another story. I usually overdraw insulin, then tap the side of the syringe to get the bubble to rise to the top, then push it out slowly.

Good luck.

Are you using the BD syringes? That's pretty much all we have available and they are bad for bubbles. Drawing the insulin out slowly seems to help. I overdraw, then remove the syringe from the insulin cartridge, then move the plunger (away from the needle) so there is air on top, then tap. For some reason, bubbles seem to like to join other bubbles. Then I lower the plunger back down and remove excess insulin.

Good luck on day 3.
