Yesterday's condo here: http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=67921

Recap of yesterday's BGs:

AMPS- 94
+3- 54
+6- 47
+9- 67
PMPS- 86
+3- 93
+6- 71

Still on 0.05u Lantus for all injections.

This morning's AMPS was 125 :o , and Cini's +3 was 111. OOOPS! I may have been a little too generous with the 4% carb last night. Today is all 2% carb unless he drops below 60. I think I'll use that as my cut off point.

Almost done with the week! Hope everyone is coasting in to Friday!

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-AMPS 125,+3/111- Blue Slip :(

Hi guys .. not green, but still very very nice! And I bet cini mini finds his way back down before the day is over .. I won't be around tomorrow, so have a great weekend!

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-AMPS 125,+3/111,+6/105- Blue Slip :(

Coming down slowly.

May have to go back to the 2% / 0% carb approach.

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-PMPS 112- Vomited

I fed Cini some beef cat food for his PMPS meal and he vomited it about 5 mins after eating. :?

I waited another 10 mins and fed him a tiny bit of salmon flavor and he seems to be keeping it down. nailbite_smile

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-PMPS 112- Vomited

So far so good on keeping the food down.

I haven't fed him this EVO 95% Beef in forever and now that I'm thinking about it.... when I did used to buy it , he had a vomiting issue back then but I didn't connect it to the food, putting 2 and 2 together, it must have been this food. *food cans are now in the donation bin for the Vet hospital homeless pets fund*

Tena,

His asthma is doing great! The terbutaline and the 1 puff of 250mcg Flixotide twice a day got him through the last rainy cold spell we had here without even a clearing of his throat. :-D I did reduce the terbutaline to once a day in the evenings after consulting with the Vet specialist and she agreed if he made it through that rainy period really well then he could probably maintain on the once a day terbutaline. The yellows and reds you see on March 28th, 29th, and 30th are a direct result of reducing the Terbutaline. I think his body was going through an adjustment period.

Now if I could just get him back to green for 7 days  I feel like maybe we can see the tunnel.

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-PMPS 112,+3/63- Vomited

Man... he's all over the place today.

Cini, fly straight! Fly straight! nailbite_smile

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-PMPS 112,+3/63- Vomited

That's wonderful to hear.

Question for ya. How long does the Terbutaline stay in the system. Wondering if it's longer acting than the albuterol puffs which last only 4-6 hours. Curry is having a horrible time this year. Having my 3rd vet visit in 3 months Saturday
due to her symptoms.

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-PMPS 112,+3/63- Vomited

Hi Tena,

Terbutaline stays in the system for approximately 12 hours and can take 2 to 3 hours to take effect. I do have an Albuterol inhaler on hand in case Cini has an asthma attack. From what I understand, Terbutaline and Albuterol accomplish the same end result - dilation of the bronchioles. Albuterol would be a rescue method whereas Terbutaline is for extended, long term use.

ETA: It comes in either pills, liquid, or injectable. I opted for the liquid due to Cini's throat condition since he can't take pills. And I didn't want to have to stick the poor guy yet another time

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-PMPS 112,+3/63- Vomited

It looks pretty funny having the smilie and then vomited on the same line

So glad you put your finger on the problem and resolved it so quickly.

Think GREEN Cini

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-PMPS 112,+3/63- Feeling better now

Ummm. Every 12 hours sounds a whole lot easier than what I've been doing this last month. How do you give the syrup? Is it bitter? What's the cost? Sorry to hijack your condo with my questions. Thanks for all the info.

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-PMPS 112,+3/63- Feeling better now

LOL, no worries.

It's 1.25 mg/ml. I give 0.5mls with a bulb syringe dropper (looks like a mini turkey baster). I get it made up for Cini at a Veterinary compounding pharmacy. They make it sugar free and chicken flavor :-D The cost for a 60 ml bottle is $30 (plus $5 for delivery to my door).

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-PMPS 112,+3/63- Feeling better now

I'm gonna ask my vet this Saturday about it. Is the vet compounding place local? Or did you order online? If online do you have the name?

Thanks bunches. I may get to sleep thru the night and stop running home during the work day if this works for her.

Re: 4/5-Cini Mini-PMPS 112,+3/63- Feeling better now

The name of the place is Diamondback Drugs

http://www.diamondbackdrugs.com/

It's local but the "Contact Us" page does say they ship priority mail.

Try googling "Veterinary Pharmacy, Houston" in your area you may find a place like it near you.
