4/4 - PHOEBE - AMPS 237 - DENTAL TODAY

Dental done. Pick up at 4pm
2 teeth right side premolars upper and lower
one was resorpting crumbled during surgery-vet not concerned it will resorpt
one extracted with root intact
Vet felt they were probably painful - explains the bristly attitude hopefully won't happen again. or i should ask for pain meds
sugars during surgery 450 -- after surgery 371. they kept her hydrated with IV's
Vet says she is ok with sugar in the 200's. I will defer to my fdmb people.
I would like to see Phoebe's pancreas kick back in and wean off the insulin once again.
I will update after picking her up, getting a sugar-----and see what dose I should give her.
It will be close to dinner time so I will count it as my pmps....if that is good to do.
antiinflammatory medication and pain meds, mousse for meals. lots of water, rest.
AND lots of kisses

Awww...she was in a lot of pain, probably! Poor baby! I'm glad things went well with the dental, and I hope her numbers begin to improve now that her mouth will be feeling better. Healing scritches to your precious Phoebe from Jude and I.

Pain meds for a couple days would be a good idea, buprenorphine is best. Depending on surgery, some vets also prescribe an antibiotic.

I liked testing as soon as I got Neko, and again before PMPS. Some anaesthesia induction drugs lower the BG, so if she's dropping for that reason, she might continue to drop.

Mousse like food, or all meat babyfood also works for first meals. Go slow with the feeding, small meals spaced apart. The anaesthesia can mess with the GI system and spreading it out means she'll be less likely to vomit. See how well she's eating before you decide on a dose tonight. Sore mouth and not wanting to eat and dropping BG's make a bad combination. Neko always devoured her food after a dental, and my dental vet used a new induction drug, so I never got into this situation and always gave full dose.

Phoebe is going to feel so much better now!

thank you everyone we are home..

numbers today at vet 450---532---395----
I have her home @+11 she is 308. lapped a little water. cleaning herself. jumpy.
Recommended from vet to give full dose tonight but to check her sugar before giving it and watch how much she eats. 1.25unit is her normal dose.
Should I wait another hour which would then be her -- pmps number -- and give her the 1.25 units? I don't think she is going to eat much as I can see she is stressed, even now that she is home. but the stress will keep her high. guidance please

Sounds like she's eating and high for her and no longer dropping. I can't stick around to help, so you have to decide if you can monitor tonight.
