4/30 Mooch AMPS 110, +4 139, PMPS 207 Dosing question

On Saturday I started Mooch on Zithromax, an antiobiotic, because he's got pretty inflamed gums/gingivitis which hadn't changed as his blood sugars got better. He is already on a tiny dose as I'm injecting from the zero mark on the syringes which is approx 0.25 units when you push the plunger in as far as it will go. I'd expect this to need to go lower as the antibiotics kick in but it'll be very difficult to consistently get a smaller dose as I'm just dealing with the excess at the end of the syringe. My vet suggested going to a single daily dose as an option once we get to this point which sounds like a good idea. Has anyone else tried that as a step when they went OTJ? I wondered if there were any recommendations re the timing of the shot etc
