Good morning. The wonkiness continues! This morning I was awoken to Marshmellow yelling and her civie Lizzy just walking back and forth over my wife and I like we had forgotten them. Like we could ever forget our babies! Hoping Marshy can start to level off a little bit today. Each day I appreciate more and more the love and dedication you all have for your pets. I don't think I'll ever get a full nights sleep!

Marshmellow was 196 at +6. I fed her 1/2 can of FF LC, as a just in case. It seems she bounces whenever she hits the blue, I thought this might help to flatten the curve. I presently feed her BID as a norm. Hope I'm not jumping the gun.

It can help to feed several small meals instead of 2 big ones too....Most of us feed mini meals because it's easier on the pancreas to deal with small meals than it is to deal with big ones

Might try breaking up her regular amount of food into 2 or 3 small meals and it might help even her out a little...but all we can do is experiment and see what works for our cat

Thanks Chris...I have been feeding BID per our vet with the insulin. But as I watch her numbers (as well as her weight), I am thinking of adding a little more food (perhaps 1/4 - 1/2 can) at the +7 mark depending on her numbers. Today after feeding at +6, she only increased a tiny bit and leveled without a bounce. From what I've read and observed, there is a lot of trial and error in finding what's right for kitty.

Thanks Marilyn...I think I need to give her a bit more food, (as she used to weigh 11.2 pounds before getting sick and 6.1 pounds when she got sick), but I want to try and do things evenly and slowly. She is up to roughly 8.2 pounds, which is good, she is gradually gaining without a quick increase.

A lot of vets are still saying to only feed twice a day with shots, but that's mostly because that's the way they've always done it and before the use of the better insulins for cats.

It might help for you to put a * into the cells when you feed (or keep good notes in the Remarks) so you can see how she responds. A lot of us also try to get most (if not all) of the food in the first half of the cycle since after nadir, the insulin is starting to wear off anyway, and adding food after that can "put the brakes" on the remaining action of the insulin

But ECID, so it just takes some trial and error with each kitty to see what works best for them!
