4/30 Darcy PMPS 219 Good news!

A-ha, here is today's! I will write it again here. Darcy, soak up all those fluids at the vet and eat for mama so you can come home and everyone can relax a bit over the weekend. :bighug:

Oh Suzanne, I am SO pleased to hear this. :bighug::bighug: Is he going back for a half-day tomorrow or relaxing at home all weekend?

Thanks for checking in on us! The vet wants us to return tomorrow for more IV fluids. In fact, the asked me if I could let him stay longer tomorrow. They close at 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays, but there will be staff who will be back there at 4:00 p.m. for "treatment time" for the animals who are staying over. She asked if I could leave Darcy there until 4:00 and pick him up then. I agreed. He will get a full 8-9 hours on the fluids then. We are both very relieved that he's doing better finally. Everybody was kind of depressed that we hadn't seen much improvement in the actual kidney values until today.

I did ask them this morning to check Darcy's temperature. He seemed a little hot to me last night. He was at 103.1 (so a little elevated). She checked it again later and it was still at 103.1. She has given him antibiotics through his IV. I don't know what the plan is regarding antibiotics. I guess I will find out tomorrow. I'm just wondering if this whole thing had some infectious cause.

That makes me feel good, that the vet is asking YOU to keep him longer. It is so frustrating and stressful to not know what instigates these sudden and urgent situations.

Oh - Minnie wants to know if Darcy has tried the sardines yet? (greedy girl, she is waiting for me to open the front door to race over in case you say yes)

True. If anyone knows the frustration of not knowing what instigates these urgent situations, it would be you, Elizabeth!

That's wonderful news that his kidney numbers are coming down some. But so frustrating not to know the cause of all of this. I hope Darcy feels and acts better now too. :bighug::bighug:

I've had some good news about Darcy tonight! Finally, we are seeing an improvement in Mr. Darcy's kidney values after a week on daily IV fluids. They are still too high (that is, outside of the reference range) but they are very dramatically lower than they were even a few days ago.
I am thrilled to hear this, Suzanne. Now, if you can get him to eat better it will be truly wonderful. Is the IV drip the same as the sub-q fluids that you can do at home or is there something else in the IV fluids that he is getting at the vet?
