Yep! We're still floatin' around the Highlands today. I'm comfortable that the Reli-On meter is accurate, so at least that variable is gone. My hubbie and I along with our daughter did BGs on ourselves using the i-Pet and the Reli-On. The Reli-On was consistent on all of us but the other was all over the place! With no pattern....just whacky #s. The meter and 100 strips cost $48.88 total. Can't beat that (i-Pet kit cost $138.00, with only 25 strips!!!!) Yeah, vet and Bev will be having a little conversation about that when I cool down. Not ethical is gouge a client when they're in a vulnerable place. Thank God for everyone here. I keep saying that, but this place is my touchstone. I'll keep testing and recording. I plan on staying with this dose for another day or two, that's correct, isn't it? I'm praying for him to lower a little today. +6 is due in a few minutes. We'll see.

I'm not sure I understand why you dropped from 2.0u to 1.5u. With all of the dose changes, it's likely that this is also contributing to the wonky numbers. Lantus likes consistency.

Morning Bev: I think starting out is the hardest because you have to get that shed full and sometimes the numbers go up before they come down. Sienne has the great point that you gotta hold the dose and not change it up when they are filling their shed. It's tough....and believe me I probably have the biggest rep in LL as having no patience    Perhaps that is what Gracie has been sent here to teach me!! Glad you got the meter sorted out!!! Hang in there...I know it's really hard. You're doing great.

Glad to hear you got the meter and it is working out! As long as Gus is high, I'd say you definitely don't want to be headed downward with doses. Be sure to continue to regularly check for ketones as well!

We bought an Alphatrak at the vet's insistence. Around $100 for the meter, and the cheapest I ever found strips was $0.83/strip. A month later, we broke up with the meter... and the vet!

I went to the SS to record today's #s and noticed that I incorrectly noted a 1.5U dose. That was wrong, I think I had 1.5 on my mind. Gus has had a consistent dose of 2 since it was first recorded. This must have been the point where I made the mistake of going up too fast in early March. In my hurry to regulate him, I started to 'up' the doses too fast. Patience, silly mule! You're right, it is hard to see all those HI results and do nothing. I didn't know about the shed in March. So this is how it looks on the meter. I'll read more about it. Has anyone heard any more about Stanley? It sounded pretty bad. Maybe I missed further posts.

I was wondering about Stanley as well, Bev...

hope you see some better numbers soon, Guster!
