He looks much better and is eating well since he threw up and I took him off of antibiotics yesterday morning. His legs are still not strong, but his recovery (if that's what this is) was being held back by the stress the pills put on his stomach.

I'm just going to concentrate on his BGs - getting them down -- and see what happens next. At least he seems more comfortable this morning.

NOW they think he may have had a stroke.....said that it will probably clear itself, but he could have more. The spot on the MRI could be a blood clot - or not!! I'm pretty fed up with that neurologist. Why didn't he recommend watching Fred to see if he improved, instead of pushing me to do a $4k MRI, spinal tap and antiobiotics that just made him sicker!!

He made it up the steps to get under the bed - that's 14 steps!! He looks brighter and is eating. My regular vet will be in tomorrow and we will consult. I trust her.

Like neurologists for humans. They seem to be looking at a spot and have little idea what it might be until they open you up and look. No thanks.

This might be good news, Kathleen, if it resolves itself and especially if it is a one time event. You could dump the antibiotics and he would feel better overall, and you could concentrate on the diabetes and let him enjoy life outside and cuddling up with you. You might try changing your subject on the Health thread and ask about stroke info?

Good idea. I'll move over to Health and see what they have to say. Already showing improvement without the antibiotics!!
What a trip!!!

Gosh Kathleen! I sure hope it does resolve itself. That gives you something to hang your hat on. Purrs and hugs to you and Fred!
