It appears that Trix is feeling even a little better today! She's getting feistier about all the meds, AND...she came downstairs and curled up in the sunshine in the bay window! That was a first...and something she loves to do. The few other times she has braved coming downstairs, she just took a few sips of water (I have a water bowl upstairs for her right now, too), sniffed around a bit, then headed back upstairs.
However, she did also prove our theory that we make her very anxious right now and that's a big part of why she is staying upstairs. As soon as she saw both DH and I head into the family room where she was basking in the sun so beautifully, she got low and scurried back upstairs to her "safe zone"....the rocking chair  . She knew something was up...we still had to do her bupe (last med for the morning) before he headed out to work. On the plus side, we know (hope) this is temporary and hopefully once all the meds are over with, she'll feel comfortable with us being together again. It also alleviates some of my concerns that were connected to her not coming downstairs at all for a few days.
In attempt to prove she is NOT going for a car ride everything we take her downstairs, I picked her up, brought her down, and put her back in the sunny bay window after we did the bupe. She got so tense as we approached the room, but I'm sure it was a relief to her that she was not then plunked into her carrier. I gave her a small snack which she ate (also in the sun!), and then she did head back upstairs. Hopefully, with both of us at work today, she'll feel comfortable coming back down again.
She's still not eating "normally" in that she's regulating herself by eating small bits at a time. But, over the course of a day, she is eating an OK amount. Still Fancy Feast...she and I both need to feel secure about her eating well before I attempt to mess with that and get her back on the lower phos fuds. At least I do have the binder, so hopefully that is helping at least a little bit.
She is taking her BP meds much more easily now. She will have nothing to do with her beloved FortiFlora at the moment, nor will she take the pills out of my hand like she used to, but putting the pill-pocketed pills on a spoon with 3 kibbles seems to be the ticket now. Phew.
I do have to work today and I'm not able to come home and check her, so DH will come home midday to see how things are and to offer her some fresh fuds. I'm off again tomorrow.
I am so sorry I've barely visited...this whole thing has taken such a toll on both my body and brain and I just haven't been able to focus on anything other than Trix. I so hope we return to some semblance of "normal" soon....it seems like we may be getting there, but I'm a bit gunshy to commit to that thought. Even though I haven't visited, I always have my LL family in my thoughts and prayers...
Have a great day, LL!
