It appears that Trix is feeling even a little better today! She's getting feistier about all the meds, AND...she came downstairs and curled up in the sunshine in the bay window! That was a first...and something she loves to do. The few other times she has braved coming downstairs, she just took a few sips of water (I have a water bowl upstairs for her right now, too), sniffed around a bit, then headed back upstairs.

However, she did also prove our theory that we make her very anxious right now and that's a big part of why she is staying upstairs. As soon as she saw both DH and I head into the family room where she was basking in the sun so beautifully, she got low and scurried back upstairs to her "safe zone"....the rocking chair  . She knew something was up...we still had to do her bupe (last med for the morning) before he headed out to work. On the plus side, we know (hope) this is temporary and hopefully once all the meds are over with, she'll feel comfortable with us being together again. It also alleviates some of my concerns that were connected to her not coming downstairs at all for a few days.

In attempt to prove she is NOT going for a car ride everything we take her downstairs, I picked her up, brought her down, and put her back in the sunny bay window after we did the bupe. She got so tense as we approached the room, but I'm sure it was a relief to her that she was not then plunked into her carrier. I gave her a small snack which she ate (also in the sun!), and then she did head back upstairs. Hopefully, with both of us at work today, she'll feel comfortable coming back down again.

She's still not eating "normally" in that she's regulating herself by eating small bits at a time. But, over the course of a day, she is eating an OK amount. Still Fancy Feast...she and I both need to feel secure about her eating well before I attempt to mess with that and get her back on the lower phos fuds. At least I do have the binder, so hopefully that is helping at least a little bit.

She is taking her BP meds much more easily now. She will have nothing to do with her beloved FortiFlora at the moment, nor will she take the pills out of my hand like she used to, but putting the pill-pocketed pills on a spoon with 3 kibbles seems to be the ticket now. Phew.

I do have to work today and I'm not able to come home and check her, so DH will come home midday to see how things are and to offer her some fresh fuds. I'm off again tomorrow.

I am so sorry I've barely visited...this whole thing has taken such a toll on both my body and brain and I just haven't been able to focus on anything other than Trix. I so hope we return to some semblance of "normal" soon....it seems like we may be getting there, but I'm a bit gunshy to commit to that thought. Even though I haven't visited, I always have my LL family in my thoughts and prayers...

Have a great day, LL!

Amy

Re: 4/28 Trixie AMBG 88

I've been thinking about you a lot all weekend but didn't have very good internet. I'm glad she is feeling better. It will take time, but she will get there. When Tarragon had ptitis the couple of times, he didn't want to be near us either. I think it's a normal reaction when they aren't feeling good. ((((Amy)))) I hope you have gotten a little rest and wish I was closer to help you out.

Re: 4/28 Trixie AMBG 88

She looked comfy and relaxed when I left, although she was still on her safety-zone rocker. I kissed her little head and told her to enjoy the mostly-bean-free day.....

Re: 4/28 Trixie AMBG 88

Trixie's numbers are beautiful. I'm glad she's feeling better. Now, if she would realize that not every day is a trip to the vet!

Re: 4/28 Trixie AMBG 88

Hi Amy  ! I've been trying to keep updated but these slow moving loading pages (if they load) were so frustrating I haven't been posting. I'm glad that Trixie is giving you some really nice BGs in the middle of all your other worries. It's good she is still taking her meds, a la any tricky means needed ;-) . Chyna did that too, went off PP -she'd had them when nauseated- then went back on them when I switched from purebites crumbs to forti flora on them...kitties sure like to keep us on our toes :o .

I hope that Trixie continues to feel better. I know it's hard when they avoid you thinking of vets and meds and hovering. You're both such good beans to notice that, even if it's hard to leave her be. I'm still sending many healing vines to your sweet girl, and tons of hugs to you! :YMHUG: :YMHUG:

Re: 4/28 Trixie AMBG 88

Thanks, everyone...

I have to admit, I am both thankful about and freaked out by these numbers.....yep, weird I know. After over 3 years on the juice, it's just odd that she is suddenly throwing great numbers without juice. But, it does help keep me from having to worry about not feeling comfortable shooting given everything else that is going on......

Re: 4/28 Trixie AMBG 88

Hi guys .. so glad to hear trixie is feeling a little better today .. I'm sorry she is so tense around you guys .. I know in time that will calm down .. Our civvie twix is the same way .. she won't have anything to do with us after a vetty visit, but after awhile she forgives us .. Have a great day!

Re: 4/28 Trixie AMBG 88

It's great to see that Trixie is starting to resume her "normal" activities. Once you are able to taper some of the meds off and she sees that you aren't going to pounce on her every time she is downstairs, I'm sure she'll do even better.

Her BG continues to intrigue me. I still think her pancreas has been shocked back into action, but I guess time will tell. Meanwhile, enjoy the poke-free days! :-D

Re: 4/28 Trixie AMBG 88

Hi Amy, I wanted to respond earlier but my Internet was wacky, and the popup said, Oops! IE can't get this page or something.
So glad to hear a positive report again, and your theory proving right on why Trixie was staying upstairs. I remember Maggie's safe haven was the bedroom when she thought I watched her too closely. She had her sunny spot, too. So amazing with her numbers and no juice.
Have a great day and hugs and scritches from us.

Re: 4/28 Trixie AMBG 88 - bigger snuggles!

DH ended up working from home this afternoon...he's better about giving her breathing room than I am.

Anyway, he just reported that she came downstairs to look for stray kibbles, then jumped on his lap and started rubbing his arm :-D ! This is the first time she's even considered doing this since last week....

I am glad that Trixie is starting to get back into her normal routine and is feeling more comfortable. Sending prayers for a continued recover.

It sounds like she if feeling so much better. What fantastic news. At least on the FD front you can relax a bit and not worry. I don't think that it's the medicine that is causing her numbers to come down and be within a normal range. I still have a feeling that the fluids that you are giving to her every single day are really, really helping to keep Trixie's BG numbers lower, and that is a very good thing. :-D

It does sound like she is feeling better. Continued feel better vines are being sent.

Those BG numbers are impressive.

Oh (((Amy)))! What a wonderful condo for Trix :-D So good to hear she is feeling better with the basking and DH rubs! And WOW on the continued beautiful bg's! My heart is smiling so big for you right now! :-D

Yay for bigger snuggles!!!
I'm so glad Trixie is feeling better and acting more like herself!!

Sending more healing vines.

Thank you, everyone, for the visits and support. She does seem to be having a nice evening, although she still feels safest on her rocking chair. But, she has eaten very well and has been quite affectionate.I'm too superstitious to say anything more than that...
