Sly didn't get food from about PMPS until after AMPS so that is likely why he hit blues this morning. He usually eats during the night once or twice. Hubby thinks we need to adjust him to eating less frequently now so he is used to it when he goes back to the shelter. I told him we need to get him into remission before we worry about that:banghead:

We had a pleasant night of retrieving a body from the ditch of a dog who had been on interstate since last Wednesday. The PD had told the rescue that there were no remains, they'd just retrieved the collar. We went to get the body late at night when interstate wasn't as busy. We weren't sure what dog it was because the rescue said their dog had no remains and never once came out and said it was their dog. But as soon as we'd picked it up one of their volunteers just blew up my phone with messages for me to take the dog to the e-vet to get it scanned or someone from the rescue was coming to my house to get "the dog" (always "the dog", never referred to it by the name of their deceased dog). I said no, I had 8 cats to feed and medicate, it was after midnight, I would take her to my vet (also the pound) and get her scanned in the morning so I could get her cremated if an owner wasn't found. Messaged me for over an hour about it and then again before 8 this morning.:coffee::mad::coffee: It turned out to be their dog, but it just ticked me off that they couldn't go get her out of the ditch in the hours from the time it was posted to the time we went to get her (they just called the PD to go get the body), but once I had her it was suddenly urgent and couldn't wait 7 hours. Yeah, I am tired and grumpy today.:( Poor pup came from a hoarding situation. Came from a crappy life and died under the wheels of a bus.:rb_icon:

((((Melanie))))) Bless your heart for what you had to do last night, may the poor dog rest in peace at the Rainbow Bridge.:bighug::bighug:

As for the owner=:mad: I understand it's a sickness but still!

This person's sickness was greed :mad::mad: This is a breeder hoarder. Over 100 dogs have been pulled and more still there. The rescuer just keeps going back whenever she agrees to release some and pulls out another 30-40 dogs. Completely unsocialized, never been out of a kennel, touched grass :( Some of them came to one of the rescues I volunteer at and one of them looks like he was another dog's chew toy. She hasn't called in the cops because she is trying to get them all to safety and too pull 100s of unsocialized dogs out of there at once would be certain death for many of them.

wow....
I thought all these places were getting cracked down upon....
of course, in my state, dog fighting is rampant.... so much that you can't even give away puppies any more.....
these creeps have women trolling for free puppies, and when they don't find any, they start stealing from people's yards....
but they hide well... and have to get caught.
puppy mills can't hide as well if everyone knows about them.

I'm sorry for the way animals get treated...
Bless you for going the extra mile....

that's appalling. I can't imagine having them all pulled out at once would be worse than what is happening now.

thanks for your rescue work, melanie. it's gotta be tough. you're a good person to help.

Yes, I think I would have opted to get them all out rather than letting some of them continue to live in those conditions. Some things are worse than death. It would have also afforded the opportunity for criminal charges. That kind of case will be much weaker with many or all of the dogs removed. It really is a crappy decision no matter what you do:(
