Whew! One more long day and then a three day weekend to recoup. I think I might just sleep a lot!!!

Latte is coping well. She was so beautiful this a.m., despite the loud meowing before alarm. Apparently she didnt realize I only had 4 hrs of sleep. *sigh* Or maybe she knew she was going to have a good day and wanted to get it started??? She took an hr nap with me this a.m. after her shot. This was a real treat, since she does not sleep next to me often anymore. After we got up, she went to town on some wet food and then plopped herself in the middle of the hall (not in the corner or against the wall), so she could face me as I was getting ready for work. She stretched herself out with what seemed like a smile on her face and did a little bathing herself. For a moment, I had a flashback of her much younger days. For a moment, she was not an elderly, multiple special needs cat. She was just a cat, enjoying her morning.

Not much food overall for her today.

For those who commented on the peeing self/solutions. She doesnt actually pee herself often. She seems to maybe sit her butt on, or against the LB and it shoots back to her or down her leg?!?! I dont get it. She does not do this all the time. The other times she usually lifts her butt enough to pee outside the box onto the pee pad. Occassionally she actually pees INSIDE the box! She has a 2nd (original) LB with a low entrance, but she rarely uses it despite the fact it has to be MUCH easier to get in than the hooded one.

I think diapers would just keep her wet. And I do use pee pads. Amy, yes..the pee pads are awesome! Ive traded stock in paper towels (from vomit), to pee pads. ohmygod_smile . I use the pads all around her LB. I put pee pads OR crib pads in all her laying spots, covered with pieces of fleece I cut. Easy to wash and rotate clean one's. Tonight she has duckies on her throne and pink plaid under the piano. The shaving is a good idea. Not what I would want to do, but we may be close to that point. She could get a fresh start back there!

Tonight, she allowed me to stick my face in her rear and kind of hold a dry towel there, as well as gently pick away at some of the mats. I dont know who thought the situation was harder...me with my face in her butt, handling urine soaked fur OR her having someone sticking their fingers all around their rear. :YMSIGH: LOL,this is how I spent my Wednesday pm!

Now Im going to spend the rest of it napping before bath time and her +6.

Really look forward to catching up with folks this weekend!

Hi Carolyn, Good to read your condo and see that you and Latte had a good day. Hope you are having a nice evening, too. A note on shaving the hindquarters: our Alice (GA) had bad seborrea (sp?) mats and after the vet shaved her hindquarters they really improved. In any event, we were able to start fresh with picking them apart gently.
Stu sends love to Latte. He'll look for her at the full moon party tonight and will be sure to sit by her for a while and offer her some of his home-cooking.
