Okay that is more like it...now those numbers make me happy so maybe she will settle nicely.

We did have a long discussion last night that mom is going to get her a very sick little sister that mom is going to have to focus on for awhile, so she needs to be a good girl and stay nice and steady and not scare the bejeesus out on mom by not eating her noms and going too low..lol

We pick up Autumn tomorrow night at 8:30pm in York NE, which is about 45mins to an hour away so should have her home about 9:30-10pm. Since she is borderline DKA (moderate ketones0 I'm giving her the large dog crate in the livingroom and covering it with a sheet, so I can make sure whose pee is whose to test for her ketone levels.

Musette's numbers were stunning until +9 then she jumped up to 331, she is confusing me...she drops after eating but before what is normally her onset, and then flies up right at what has been normally her nadir. Its almost like she does better when the insulin is wearing off than she does when it should be at the height of effectiveness.

Rolled her shot time back by 30 minutes tonight so that I'll have time to test and shoot tomorrow night before we have to leave to go meet up with Autumn's transport.

Sending the transport team good travel vibes for tomorrow. Autumn sure hit the jackpot with her new furever home. I hope she and Musette become fast friends.

Good luck with everything tomorrow. I hope it all goes without a hitch.

Autumn is not being treated, is that correct (I mean, am I remembering correctly)? Sounds like she is going to need round the clock care for a few days with fluids and insulin and perhaps syringe feeding if she won't eat on her own. I know you hate to do that to a newly moved kitty, but those ketones have to be nipped in the bud and she can't go without food. I am sending healing thoughts and prayers her way.

Musette will be OK, she just needs to regain her footing. What dose are you shooting, .5u? I guess just stick with that and see what happens in the next 48 hours.

Yeah Autumn is going to need everything I have to give I think, she has a heart murmur so I've got to balance giving her sub-q fluids against her heart. She is nothing but fur, skin and bone. Hasn't been treated for 7+ months. And I have to break her of the dry food addiction, her owner has not only been feeding her dry but cheap Ally Cat dry. Hopefully she will catch on quick that the wet is yummier and won't give me too much of a problem with the diet switch.

With as high as her BGs are I think I''m probably going to start her on 1u bid, got my fingers crossed she will come down as much and as quickly as Maxwell did when his diet got switched...don't expect her to go OTJ as quick as he did, but it would be nice if I could get her below the renal threshhold fairly quickly. That would do a lot for those ketones.
