Hi Linda - if it were me, I would wait and do the increase when he is home with you and you can monitor. Good luck with the imaging - hope you get good results!

Hi guys ... I would probably wait to increase myself too .. even though for most cat's it takes a cycle or two before the difference starts showing up, but better safe then sorry in my opinion .. but that's just me! Good luck tomorrow guys and have a great day!

Morning Linda - I think I would wait too, until you can be home to monitor. It could be a few days before the new dose kicks in, but you never know.... Good luck!

I think it makes good sense to hold off until tomorrow night to increase. I hope the tests go smoothly and you get some answers!

By the looks of that +10, I'm guessing he must have had some yellow today at least. Too bad I wasn't here to catch it. Stuck with the 2.75u dose at Pm shot, will up the dose tomorrow pm.

I'm actually hoping for the hyper-thyroid test to come back positive, then I will have an explanation as to why he came out of remission. I'm only hoping it's positive though if he can be treated and cured with the I-131 Radio active therapy, since it has such a good success rate. I'm hoping it's not just an enlarged heart, which would be hard to treat and may not be resolved. Thank you for the well wishes. We may not have results for a few days, but I will post them when I get them.

I seriously think Guinness and Champ get on the phone every night and say, "Okay, dude, this is the plan for tomorrow's numbers..." :lol: :lol: They seem to be mirroring each other pretty closely lately. It can be a little frustrating when you see some people within two weeks taking their kitties off insulin (which makes me wonder if they were ever truly diabetic) and then there are our guys...content to float around the pinks with dips into the yellows with no signs of wanting to get off the juice. Maybe they like the extra attention they're getting. Yeah, that's the reason!!! :lol: :lol: :lol:

I have to say, I was one of those people last time that had my cat on and off of insulin in a month. It's actually what's making this harder this time. I've been doing everything right for 2 years. Low carb food, treats, 4 mini-meals a day, etc.

I don't know about the attention thing, but I can tell you that Guinness is LOVING all the extra treats he's getting lately and his brother Harp is acting extremely jealous of all the attention that Guinness is getting (Harp is the love bug cat compared to Guinness). He's been moping around for weeks now acting somewhat stand-offish and refusing to eat the chicken treats I've been giving Guinny for his tests. :mrgreen:

Hi Linda,
Wishing you good luck with the imaging tomorrow. As I understood it, you get the results right away. At Hypurrcat in Bedford Hills NY, where we had hoped that Stu would be able to have the I-131, I believe that they do the imaging and then immediately following administer the I-131. After that the kitty is quarantined for the requisite number of days and apparently the cats suffer no ill effects from the I-131 (they are quarantined to protect you). At Hypurrcat they have kitty TV for them to watch, and lots of birdfeeders outside their windows so they don't get bored.
Your I-131 treatment place may work differently, however. I'll be interested in hearing how they proceed. I hope that all will work out well for Guinness.

I really do understand that this has to be harder the second time around. Wouldn't it be nice to find the reason Guinness had a relapse? I hope its something easily correctable. He's lucky he has you to take care of him. Good luck with all the testing!! I'll be putting you and your Guinny in my prayers!!
 
We won't have results right away because my vet is doing something called a Fasttrack. Basically, she makes the appointment and they fax the results to her, then she calls me with the results...but I get $$$ off. We are only doing scan and cardiac ultrasound tomorrow and then will reschedule if necessary for I-131 based on the scan. My vet isn't convinced it's the thyroid, but really wants the ultrasound done, so since I thinks it's the thyroid, we are doing both. I-131 to come later.
