Who took our little green kitty????? Needless to say, we were shocked at the +6 last night and continued ick at AMPS. Our current pen just had a few units left in it so I started a new pen this morning since her numbers have started getting a little wonky the last couple of cycles. If that doesn't fix it, next stop is dosecrease. Personally, I suspect the dose.....it seems to take Gracie at least six cycles to decide whether she will fail a reduction or not and this wonkiness started on the 8th cycle with bouncing into yellow. My Gracie intuition tells me that signalled a failed reduction for her but.....just in case this is the high before the break, I held the dose this morning and changed the pen. Come on back little green kitty!!!
She seems fine....just hungry this morning, obviously. I was met in the bathroom by a headbutting, purry little girl looking for breffis.
I mentioned I got some digital calipers and I've been using them to help with dosing. I dial in 1.5u then take off the six drops to get me to c1u and then fine tune it with the calipers. My last box of MJs I just got is woefully inconsistent from syringe to syringe so this morning I used the last of the old insulin to dial in 1.5u on four different syringes....one where the zero line was way above where it should be, one where it was perfect, one where it was just below, and one where it was way below. Wow...the difference in the amount of insulin in the syringes was
and then I measured them each with the calipers; the one where it was way over was significantly different (ok...not significant in a scientific way), than the other three. Then I dialed in Gracie's dose on all four of them and then measured with the calipers to adjust the dose for the number on the calipers that I've been using for c1u. For the syringe where the zero line was above where it should be, it "looked" like my 1.25u dose in terms of where the plunger lined up with the unit marks. The other three were actually just within a hair of each other in how the plunger lined up with the unit marks but for Gracie, that could make a difference. Without looking at the markings, the amount of insulin in each syringe looked identical since I used the calipers. If I can get a photo, I will.
Gus is better; hand is getting better. However, beans are shortly leaving for the day. Have a great one!

That's just why I count drops as the Monojects do have inconsistencies, and yes, you're so right about just the smallest microdose makes a big difference with our kitties. Glad both you and Gus are healing. Have a good night
