Things are about the same here...for the most part, Trix seems to be feeling quite good, but at the same time, her appy is not 100%. It's not BAD....I've certainly seen much worse from her, but I've also seen better. For most of yesterday it was pretty strong. In fact, when I gave her a snack at about noon, she devoured it...it was wonderful. Her start to the evening was strong, too, but kind of petered out a bit after fluids and meds again...always making me wonder. This morning was an OK appy...eating a fairly decent amount, but lacking some enthusiasm. I am doing a little bit of assist-feeding here and there, to help fill in the calorie gaps.

I wish I knew if this is all just me being too much of a paranoid helicopter or what. I mean, I don't annoy the crap our of my other cats if they pick instead of eat for a day here and there. As I've said before, though, I just hear the vets words over and over and over about how, with her kidneys the way they are, she could spiral downward very quickly if she goes a day without eating/without eating enough. Ugh.

Someone asked yesterday if her reduced appy could be a seasonal change thing (sorry, I can't remember who asked and I'm too lazy right now to look back)....I suppose it's possible, especially since she seem to feel fine. But historically speaking, Trix has never been one to adjust her appy based on seasons before. Of course anything could change at any time, so maybe that's what's going on. I just don't know, though. At the same time, spring is playing tricks on us anyway and it is brutally cold again....I'd think that would tell her it's time to fatten up again!

I was trying to return to her every-other-day schedule with cerenia, but this morning - 48 hours after her last cerenia - we had the empty tummy acidic spit up right before I served breffis. So I'm going to try every 36 hours on the cerenia and see how that goes. My gut is telling me that every 24 hours is too frequent for her, even though I know the oral cerenia is only supposed to last that long, and I know others who do dose it every 24 hours. But we'll see....if every 36 hours doesn't work, I'll go back to every 24 hours.

My Dad's visit with the pulmonary doc was pretty much uneventful. Basically there was no change in the x-rays between last week and this week - which, in the grand scheme, isn't a bad thing (ie, whatever it is, it hasn't worsened). At the same time he still has no respiratory symptoms, and he is feeling much, much better overall. So the pulmonary doc has us in "watch" mode....another follow-up in a month. Since my Dad has no symptoms, the doc is now comfortable with not prescribing any meds at this point, which makes my Dad happy.

The weather here continues to verge on being wintry....my lips have re-chapped. I really have to move south or to a tropical island some day.....

I'm at work, so time to work. Have a great day, L&LL!

Amy

All in all, Amy, a good report. Both for your dad and Trixie. Now, make it even better little girl. Pick up the appy a tad. OK?

Trixie, I'm sure you'd prefer Mama not obsess over your appy so much, and there is one way to fix that: eat! Eat more! Eat with gusto! You can do it, Trixie!

I'm glad your DF is doing well. Sending prayers that he will continue to feel well and "whatever it is" on his lungs will stay static or go away and continue to cause no problems.

I'm glad Trixie seems to be feeling good. I hope the new dosing schedule with the cerenia works for her. I'm glad your dad's appointment was uneventful. That's good on the no meds. :bighug::bighug:

Once we have a scare like that we all helicopter! Every time Tess doesn't finish all her food I worry!

Good news on no more meds for DF! Sending more vines.

Hi Amy! I guess we are all in the right place, to talk about and to other helicoptor moms:smuggrin:. Hugs to you :bighug:and vines and prayers for your Dad, and for Trixie. I hope the weather will improve for you soon. No more of that white s*** (haha, it always reminds me of that condo when we thought you were talking about a different word and it was on your car? :p:oops:). Have a great weekend!
