Tipper's dose was reduced by ER vet upon her release. It appears that its not enough. Some of the results of her GI panel are in
ER vet will discuss with me Tues, so her diagnosis is still up in the air.

She is eating small meals and acting more like her old self every day.

I just went back a few days to read up on what's been going on. When you talk to the ER vet, please find out if they ran a spec fPLI -- this is the definitive test for pancreatitis. An ultrasound to diagnose pancreatitis is only as good as the person doing the ultrasound. Here's some info on pancreatitis. If you go to the section on diagnosis, they talk about ultrasound (p.7).

With where Tipper's numbers are sitting, please try to get a ketone test whenever you can. If you see any changes in behavior (e.g., lethargy) please get a ketone test.

I'm not sure what the ER vet was thinking, but these numbers are high. Have you had a chance to follow up with your regular vet? If the vet suggests raising the dose by a lot (e.g., going back to 3.0u), how about doing this a little more slowly?

If you can, ask the vet to fax or e-mail you the lab results -- all of the results. There are people here and/or on Health that can help you interpret the results.
