Yesterday’s Condo for Oliver

Today is cycle 2 on 7uLev. Oliver is eating a bit less than before but he's still urinating quite alot. I think it's got more to do with his water consumption; I add water to all of his food, just not as much as for Shadoe, and he does drink a fair bit from the water bowls. I have to give him back the bowl that came with him because it's got a flat bottom and he keeps hooking his paw in the bowl and pulling it along the floor, spilling lots. I tried putting the bowl in the boot tray to catch the water and to stop the dragging, but then he thought it was funny I guess to rebel and just step on one side to spill the whole thing into the boot tray. So he's got the flat wide based bottom plastic bowl back; I'll have to buy him a big metal one similar - I don't use plastic containers for the cats' foods or drinks.
His +2 shows how well/quickly he responds to 2R

And before there are complaints, pictures attached.

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 +2~400

Yeah...wow....that +2 shows his reaction....now what? gee....isn't he unusual, eh?
Well, he IS a handsome boy...and you are very patient with him and his water dish tricks! Hope you all have a good day Gayle!

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 +2~400

I think he does not react to the R till closer to +3, but then who knows how much is the R and how much is the Lev?

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 +2~400

oh wow .. is oliver a handsome boy or what! He looks huge .... I hope you guys see good numbers today, enjoy your Sunday!

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 +2~400

He has gorgeous markings. Thanks for the pictures.
Now, come on down Oliver.

Yes, to say that Oliver is a big cat is an understatement. Someone mentioned before that he could have a bit of Bengal in him, and I thought, a Bengal TIGER!
You ever see on those nature shows where they have wild tigers and lions? The way they walk, they have that slow strolling lumber and it's just like Oliver's walk. He's in no rush, he doesn't need to rush, nobody bugs him ever, even though he is just a gentle giant.

Booboo is close to allowing him to touch her but she's just over 6lbs and he is now close to 18lb and triple her size.

By just after +3 he's moving down, but is it just the Lev or part of the R?
For a fast acting insulin, R does not seem to be that way with Oliver.

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 +2~400 +3.25~344 +6~349

Trying to get some decent numbers here is like pulling a wisdom tooth with roots to your heels.
Going to try 2R and see how it goes.
The happy guy is oblivious, so long as there are some good foods at regular intervals.

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 +2~400 +3.25~344 +6~349 +8~324

If the R was not working for Shadoe, I would think it had fizzled.
Oliver sure doesn't react to it much.
We'll see how he is at pmps and try again.

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 +2~400 +3.25~344 +6~349 +8~324

I don't really think it's that he's not responding to the R. He often goes way up at the beginning of the cycle when he doesn't get R, so maybe the R is helping keep him from zooming up, it's just not quite enough to get him to go down. KWIM? And I wonder if he's a late nadir cat for Levemir AND for R. Makes sense, I think.

Regardless, he looks GREAT so keep up what you're doing.

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 +2~400 +3.25~344 +6~349 +8~324

Oh Libby, you said what I have been trying not to think; without the R his numbers would be horrific. And as for the nadir, I also believe he is a slow boy and takes his time doing everything, including reacting to the insulins.

It seems like Shadoe usually reacts to R by +2, but Oliver takes a wee bit longer. By +3, he's moving, and I did test him around 20min after +2, just to see, and he was starting to move.
For the Lev, there are some days where he is still dropping late like around +9 and I asked about it before. Someone mentioned that SettleD was one who had a really late nadir like +11. That's just too freaky - how do you shoot that??

So, once again, he's got a pmps that's high: 434. This shot is cycle 4, 7u Lev and we are trying a bit more R - 2.5u this shot. I am getting the feeling he's using the R as a crutch; even with R at mid cycle, he's still right up there at ps.
On an up note, Booboo came over and lay down right beside Oliver when I put him on the sofa, but no picture yet because he's still freaked at being allowed to be on the sofa.
And Shadoe still hates him and stares daggers at him

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 pmps 434

SettleDown also has a late R onset and nadir, I think. Maybe they do go hand in hand. It's not a bad thing, you just have to get used to thinking differently. In fact, maybe it's a good thing, look how really nice and perfectly flat Settles is most of the time, there's a lot of overlap to play with once you get to a good dose.

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 pmps 434 +2~392

It looks like maybe the little bit extra R is making a difference or starting his drop a bit sooner this shot.
We are out of the red and hopefully heading on down the pinks.

One thing that he has always done that's super annoying is that he shakes his ear shortly after being poked, and blood drops splatter all over and he has to get poked again. Often I forget to have a hold on his head so he can't shake it.
It's almost like he finds it itchy. Thanks goodness he has very thick ears and bleeds nicely, so \i don't have to poke again, but I do need to hold tight to the spot after to stop the bleeding.
Weird; Shadoe's ears are just paper thin compared to Oliver's.

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 pmps 434 +2~392

As usual, thanks for the pictures.
He is making you work Gayle.
I know you have the upper hand with him.

Re: 4/25 Oliver amps 392 pmps 434 +2~392

I finally got a couple picture of all 3 of them together. Oliver is not comfy on furniture, and Shadoe does not like him on furniture.

:YMSIGH: Oliver is just not playing nice here; he's already on the way back up at +5, so I guess I'll give him more R so he can have some lower than sky high numbers overnite.
