Morning everyone! Wow, I don't know what is going on with Maggie Mae and her numbers!! I feel guilty feeling bummed out, as there are so many sick kitties lately, and I should be glad Maggie is doing so well, which I am grateful. I know this isn't that high and some would love to have this blue, but it's high for Maggie! I even tested with my back-up human meter to make sure this ATrak number was correct. Interesting, the Relion Micro tested at 183 bg, only a 14 point difference. The higher the number, the less difference between the two meters. Otherwise, Mags is doing great with all P's. She just asked to be brushed and now is ignoring her food!

I wonder if I'm not getting enough scruff for the shot and the drop isn't getting in far enough. I gather the scruff with my left hand and use my right hand to shoot. My left shoulder/upper arm are both the problem/painful areas and why I am having pt to get more range of motion back, so I wonder if I'm just not doing something right and gathering a thick enough scruff!! Of course, she's a cat and this may just be the sugar dance thingy, too. confused_cat One thing I just noticed with giving the drop dose as I was practicing just now! When I get a drop, it gets sucked back up into the syringe, so I'm thinking this is what happens when I shoot. I'd welcome any advice from those doing microdosing. Thanks much.

Re: 4/25 Maggie AMPS 197 ATrak

Ann you know what we say here, Go back to you last best dose, if kitty isnt holding--
With Moonie, we sometimes have to go up to get her back down again--
So I hope she will come back down with a bit more insulin, hopefully she'll come back to great numbers today.
Check with dosing helpers. Hugs from us..

Re: 4/25 Maggie AMPS 197 ATrak

Morning Natalia and Lisa, yes a bit high for Maggie, and I hope, too, she surfs nice blues, as I will be gone mid morning and miss some checks.

Morning Roni, thanks for stopping by, and yes, I may need to fatten the drop to get her down. I'll wait to see how she does this cycle yet, as I shot earlier.

Re: 4/25 Maggie AMPS 197 ATrak

First Ann, get another 3 meters and check the numbers and get back to us, okay?

ONLY KIDDING of course!

You were right when you said that the drop get sucked back in....so, practice this: When you shoot, keep the plunger depressed as you withdraw the needle. As the needles comes out, the little drop of insulin will be wiped off the needle.
If you depress the plunger and then let go, the little drop does go right back into the tip, so you have to keep the plunger depressed all the way as you remove the needle....sound logical?
Why not try it that way for a few shots and see if makes a difference.
After you shoot, when you look at the syringe, you can depress the plunger and see if anything is still in there.....
I guess we all should be shooting that way too....cause if there is a little still in the needle, then we aren't giving the full dose that we think we are....that is my thought, FWIW....maybe others will have more suggestions....

Oh no, Pat, caught again! I was trying to squeeze in that I used my human meter in between paragraphs, and you caught me! I didn't get my AccuChek Aviva out, so maybe the Intervention helped some! :-D

This is quite a drop, so I think I must have fattened the dose without intending to just trying to get the drop in Maggie. Thanks for those tips of keeping the plunger depressed all the way as I remove the needle. I wasn't keeping it depressed and was letting go as I pulled it out; thanks so much. I will give it a try for the pm cycle with the microdose. That does help, and as you stated, all of us should be doing it this way. I hope she doesn't drop too much, as I need to leave mid morning. I have time to do another check, and there is always the mc food I can leave while I'm gone.

Re: 4/25 Maggie AMPS 197; +3 106; +4 133 ATrak

The +4 at 133 is a bit of a food spike, as I fed after the 106 bg reading since I'll be gone a few hours or less, so Maggie should hopefully just surf some blues. I'll be be back later to catch up and read more condos.

Re: 4/25 Maggie AMPS 197; +3 106; +4 133 ATrak

Morning guys! Wow on that amps. I would have suggested what Pat did: about keeping the plunger depressed until the needle has been removed. I do this with Mannie's shots too. Then you can be certain that all the insulin made it in. I'd try that for a couple more cycles before increasing.. ?? Maybe the others will have an opinion.

Have a good day today, and good luck with your appt!

Hi guys .. you got some good advice from pat about keeping the plunger pressed in as you withdrew it .. I had to remind peter about that as we were down to mocha's last few drops .. have a great day guys!

+6 at 160, not bad. Now Maggie is back to eating FF Chopped Grill which raises her bg slightly, but she's tired of the FF Seafood Feast (hands up in the air)!!

Hi Michelle and Devon, the thanks for stopping by, and yes, I'll be sure and keep the plunger pressed in as I withdraw the needle. Hope you are both having a nice day. Good advice from Pat. I'm slapping myself, as I should have known this fact!

Pat thinks meters grow on trees!
Ah fine tips from micro-dosers anonymous. @-)
I personally enjoy holding the syringe for a 10 second count while injecting.

I like Maggie's numbers, wanna trade?

A little lower than her AMPS! This time I left the plunger pushed down while removing the needle! We'll see what happens. Maggie's very picky today, so I'll be looking for more variety. I think she wants some carbs; she saw me eating potato chips (her favorite), and I quick had to put it away!

Hi Ronnie, our Pat catches me every time! I guess I fell off the Intervention wagon! Yes, excellent advice from our micro-dosers anonymous. You hold the syringe for 10 second count. Luna is a good girl. What is up with Luna's numbers. I'll have to visit your ss and see what Missy Luna is up to these days. Thanks for stopping by, Ronnie.

I've been lazy with our ss updating, but Luna figures noone's watching so he slips into pink evening wear.

Thanks Pat for the advice on keeping the plunger depressed. It worked as when I pulled the plunger out, there was no drop in the syringe. Looking at the numbers, it shows. Thanks also to Michelle and Devon who also stated the same as Pat.

Oh no, Roni, our Luna cannot keep wearing that pink dress. I'm sure he will be coming down to blue soon. I took a peek, and he started out in a blue dress. Have a good night Ronnie and Luna.
