Yep.. He made a huge BOUNCE last night.. trying to do feedings at +3 the next few days to see if this will help. For some reason, Smokey has also decided these last couple days he's not that hungry, unless it's chicken. He was doing great for awhile there. Now he refuses the catnip, I think he's just burnt out on it, so were trying some boiled chicken breast. I ordered his fave, Purebites freezedried chicken along with Cosaquin this morning, and those will be here Friday. So I just need to get his fussy self thru today and tomorrow.. I think he's mad I ran out of the Purebites. He goes crazy for them! :-D

I am so glad I don't have a bunch of fussy eaters...mine all think they are on a seafood diet..they see food they eat it...

If he is crazy for the purebites you can take the dust at the bottom of the bag and dust his food with that to remind him that wetfood it good...dry food bad.

I don't know if you have tried it yet or not with Mister Fussybudget but you can get this stuff called Fortiflora either from the vet's or online it is animal digest which is basically the same stuff they coat dry catfood with to make them addicted to it. I've never had to use it but I guess most cats go crazy for it, and while it is a little pricey I take it that a little goes a long ways. But you basically use it like you would salt on your own food..just sprinkle a tiny bit on the wet food.

What do you suggest over these next couple days if I'm having trouble getting him to eat Mel?? I can't really afford the fortiflora right this minute.. Would it be best too..

1. Continue to offer the wet food only
2. Offer wet if he won't eat it, feed chicken breast
3. if 1 and 2 don't work feed diabetic dry

I know he'll eat the dry.. my skinny calico eats a few bites in the morning, I walked out of the room for 30 seconds this morning, I guess she'd walked away from her bowl.. and said some four letter words as I saw Smokey in her dish... He had been off this stuff completely for the last few weeks, I'm afraid now that he realizes it's still in the house that he won't eat anything else.

Sometimes this feeding 3 cats thing drives me crazy.. My females always been so tiny, I don't really think she needs a restricted diet. She eats wet food at night, and a few bites of kibble here and there.. never had a weight problem like my males or anything like that and she doesn't eat alot of it, so it's not a huge worry..

I think at night, I am going to bring a bowl of the dry into a different room if she wants some in the mornings. If any of the cats hears the kibble in the dish, that's where their attention goes...

Well if he will eat the chicken breasts you can try mixing some chunks into his wet to see if he will eat like that...if that fails, try crushing up some of the dry and sprinkling that on the wet food and if all else fails....feed him whatever he will eat period, he needs to eat to get his insulin and he needs both food and insulin to keep ketones at bay. Everything else we can work around if we have to.

Yea, he eats the Chicken, I just gave him a small handful after having a quarter of a can topped with chicken breast sitting in front of him for a hour wasn't touched. He's sleeping and not interested right now.

I know last night he wasn't into food at PMPS but about an hour and a half later was hungry and ate, and I left a quarter can down and it was gone this morning, tough to tell if it was him or Giz who ate it. You'd think they could leave a note or something! :)

LOL You think feeding 3 is driving you nuts ...try 14, that is why I am so grateful that they will eat anything that doesn't try to eat them first. :o Also why they all but Autumn eat the exact same thing and even if Autumn does get a mouth or two of someone else's plate it isn't going to be terribly bad for her, just a little bit of a grain spike to her BGs. And in reality the chances of her finishing her fud before the rest of the Pride has finished theirs is so remotely small I don't worry about it too much. You would think I ran a vaccuum store here with all the Hoovers in the house.

LOL!! I couldn't imagine!!! I bet 3 sounds like a vacation!! They are all fussbudgets, thanks to 10+ years of my parents spoiling their grandchildren..

When I was about 18 I moved out and adopted Gizmo, a little while later, thought she was lonely, and a co worker's cats had adorable kittens.. So along came Smokey..

I eventually had to come home for a bit.. When I left it was into a studio apartment.. not enough room for 2 cats, plus I discovered Gizmo was just fine on her own, actually liked it..lol.. and Smokey was pretty close with his son, so I left him here with Mr T and my parents. And the spoiling began... and didn't end until Smokey was DX.. I swear he lived on Temptations cat treats for all those years.. which hasn't made this switch any easier!!

Hopefully he'll be a little hungrier in a few hours.. he did get up a few minutes ago and eat about a quarter of the food I had down for him... so it's something.. I think that combined with the chicken should be good for a few hours at least. I cooked that chicken yesterday, so they all got a few bits here and there. I suppose that could have had an effect on their appetites too..

Well, I'm gonna go try to take a nap for a few. I have the house to myself, and that NEVER happens. It's so quiet, I might as well try to enjoy it!
