Good morning. Hey Jen, I forgot to answer your question on whether he is eating through the night. I have not left out any food but I did last night and he did eat maybe half or little more of a frozen "muffin" food. But I don't know when the last time he would have eaten. He is hungry this morning. So since he could have eaten in the last two hours before his AMPS, is it more important for him to eat even though it could have been within that two hour window?

Were you thinking about getting a feeder? That would solve that issue as you can program it to go to an empty slot 2 hours before the pretest.

Food can definitely raise bg levels so that could be part of this am number, especially if he slept most of the night, woke up and thought - "Great, Mom fed me early" :mrgreen:

Whoops, sorry Sue, I meant that you reminded me of feeding over night. Yes I will look into it. I have to go to a Petsmart this morning anyway, so hopefully they have one in stock. You know, I could see him thinking that...yum breakfast, because every time I test him in the middle of the night (+6), he is sleeping and he usually just lays there and almost continues sleeping, so he is not interested in food at that time. I have been getting him up and giving him food at +6 but I could tell he would rather sleep. I didn't know that you can program it to close up two hours before pre-shot time. This should help.

Wow! That's a drop. It seems like he has a sort of a pattern: throwing higher flatter numbers and then, just when we get discouraged, a big drop. Sort of a delayed reaction?

Yeah...right? 400 point drop is huge. He was hungry so I gave him some LC food so his numbers went up for the +5 test. Probably won't test him for the +6 since he usually goes up after the +5.

I found a Petsmart that has the 5 meal feeder today. Should have it going for tonight.

Sorry about my absence for the last couple days. Been super duper busy combined with my limited patience with the board slowness.

Looking at Merlin's patterns over some time now, I think your scale looks about perfect. It looks like basically, his pattern is a good cycle, followed by a flat bounce cycle or two, and then he clears the bounce, and has as good cycle again. I beat my head on the wall from time to time dealing with similar patterns with Eddie, and there's just not a whole lot that can be done about the bouncing as I understand it. It does seem like the pre-shots are generally starting to trend just a little bit lower, so perhaps with time, the bouncing will improve.

Looks like a bounce cycle from that nice green nadir during the AM cycle. Hopefully, he'll clear it out yet this PM and be ready for a good cycle during the AM tomorrow.
 
Did you get to try the feeder? Excited to hear how it worked! Tried to get in yesterday to post but couldn't get the board to pull up at all. Argh!
