Barb, I hope you got to get out for a while today. Hopefully Checkers slid down slowly for you.

Re: 4/23 Checkers amps 378 +3/381

Hey Barb, did Checkers catch up on his beauty sleep? And did you get a paw written permission slip from him to go out and about today? I sure hope so, and I bet some of the shopping was for Checkers and crew. Checkers, how about a slide down to blue at least today?

Nice of you to come down today, Checks, but do you have to keep dropping near pmps?

I don't like the way Checkers is behaving the last few days.
He's being much too sweet and friendly. He's staying near me. He sits nicely and lets me test.

That sounds like a pretty nice cat, doesn't it? But it frightens me, because it's unlike him!
Checkers has always been feisty and snotty. Touch his feet and risk losing a finger....ok, I exaggerate, but he doesn't like to be touched below the waist.
Last few days, he's been letting me pet the full length of his body, including feet. nailbite_smile
I keep checking his breathing, when he's sleeping.

His stomach is gurgling right now, twenty minutes after eating. In all his 16 years, I don't remember ever hearing his tummy gurgle. Should I be concerned?

Hi Barb. Glad that Checkers made it to the Lagoon today. He did wait until late in the cycle but he wanted to be sure you could get your errands done.

I hope the personality change is just him showing a kinder-gentler side of himself and nothing serious. We will keep Checkers and you in our Prayers.

Have a great day Barb.

Tummy no longer gurgling. He ate nice dinner, and is sleeping all curled up in cube, so I guess that means his back isn't hurting.
He had been sitting and peeking out at me.....maybe 'cause I was in the kitchen, and he thought goodies might come his way

Re: 4/23 Checkers pmps 101

Checks, buddy, that was quite the slide today!  I am very impressed. Good job on confusing your bean, too.   Them beans are so amusing. ~Z

Re: 4/23 Checkers pmps 101

I know how unusual behavior makes us beans worry...but I'm sorry, I did have to giggle a bit. It sounds like Checks is feeling really, really good, and he knows his MamaBean is why he's feeling good - enjoy it! Good job on keeping her on her toes with those numbahs, Checks!!

Re: 4/23 Checkers pmps 101

Maybe Checkers is just getting mellow in his "old age". I had a cat that was ornery and didn't like to be petted much. As she got older, she got more mellow and begged to be petted. She wanted to be around me more. I hope Checkers surfs safely for you tonight.

Re: 4/23 Checkers pmps 101

Hi Barb ~O) ~O) ~O) ok, so it is too late for ~O) but there you go anyways.

WOW! Looks at Checkers put the Zener slide into cation,. Impressive Checks! Now you surf well! No drama tonight, 'K?

hmmmmm on the behavior change. What's up Checks? messing with your bean? Maybe he just feels darn good, and decided that mellow was the way to go. I vote for that. :-D Nice to read that he's curled up in his cube - yupp! feeling good.

Have a great evening Barb. Hope all is well with you!

Ah yes, the Mystery of the Dissappearing Condos by Sly Cat. Where oh where did my post go?

Hope everything goes well with Checkers tonight.

Re: 4/23 Checkers pmps 101

Hi Barb, I hope that Checks was just enjoying a really nice slide and that he was happy. Maybe this is the "new" Checkers? Maybe not, so enjoy it now!

It was beautiful weather here today and I hope you had some, too.

Hugs & scritches,

Ella & Rusty

Re: 4/23 Checkers pmps 101

Thank you all for the good thoughts. Maybe the Tap is kicking in and bringing his thyroid under control?
I have no idea how a cat feels with hyper-T. I'd like to think he's feeling better.

Hyperthyroidism is no fun to have if you are human. Here are some of the symptoms humans can experience:

From Wikipedia.
nervousness, irritability, increased perspiration, heart racing, hand tremors, anxiety, difficulty sleeping, thinning of the skin, fine brittle hair, and muscular weakness—especially in the upper arms and thighs. More frequent bowel movements may occur, but diarrhea is uncommon. Weight loss, sometimes significant, may occur despite a good appetite (though 10% of people with a hyperactive thyroid experience weight gain[

Major clinical signs include weight loss (often accompanied by an increased appetite), anxiety, intolerance to heat, hair loss, muscle aches, weakness, fatigue, hyperactivity, irritability, hypoglycemia[citation needed], apathy, polyuria, polydipsia, delirium, tremor, pretibial myxedema, and sweating. In addition, patients may present with a variety of symptoms such as palpitations and arrhythmias (the notable ones being atrial fibrillation), shortness of breath (dyspnea), loss of libido, amenorrhoea, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, gynaecomastia and feminization.[8] Long term untreated hyperthyroidism can lead to osteoporosis

I imagine cats can experience many of the same symptoms. I wish I were a cat. Then maybe I could take all those cat naps and not have problems with the insomnia. ;-) :o ;-)
