Georgia and Simon (GA)

Member Since 2010
Simon hung out in the 300's yesterday, even with the dose increase. I have had to give him some allergy medicine for his scratchy ears and that always increases his BG. I am going to stop giving it to him in another day, so hopefully, will see better numbers soon.

Funny story: Since we have been taking care of the stray kitty, Cole, Mr. Simon hasn't been exactly thrilled. Our one room downstairs has been smelling really bad and DH says it must be Simon going to the bathroom down there, although I don't see anything. I said that it smells like something else but DH is convinced it is cat pee. I started cleaning the whole area with Nature's Miracle and then opened the fireplace to clean that out. Surprise, surprise -- there was a dead squirrel in the fireplace that must have gotten trapped and couldn't go back up the chimney!! How disgusting!! I almost put my hand on it! And how sad for the squirrrel. Mystery solved with the smell. Poor Mr. Simon, blaming him for the stinky smell. Now, hopefully things will be better.

Have a great day everyone!

Poor Simon and his scratchy ears. Hopefully he'll work that dosecrease until you can stop the allergy meds!

Yikes on the squirrel! You're right...sad for the squirrel, scary for you, and poor li'l Simon, taking the blame! Have you found a definite adopter for Cole yet? What a lucky kitty, having you save him and take him in.

Prayers continue for your FIL. Have a great day, Georgia!

Re: 4/22 Simon AMPS 262

Hi Georgia,

We had a dead squirrel in our fireplace at camp years ago. We smelled carrion, but because it was summer we didn't think to look in the fireplace. That is an unmistakable smell once you have smelled it!
I hope that Simon's scratchy ears clear up soon and that you will find a good home for Cole. What's happening with the kitty in the shelter? Has she had her tests yet?

Have a good day. Don't forget the Full Fish Moon Party on Thursday (see Loose Lips condo).

Hugs, scritches,

Ella & Rusty

I'm glad you found the squirrel so poor Simon can clear his name.  I am planning on ordering a blacklight to check for cat pee but it will have to wait until classes are done for the semester. Good luck finding a furever home for Cole. Come down from there, Simon!

Simon is coming down slowly, although I came home to find out he had thrown up on my comforter  Gave him some pepcid.

Amy, I think I have found a home for Cole. He will be going to the new home on Friday and if all goes well (fingers crossed), he will be staying there. The family is a really good family with a 3 year old. I think Cole will like the activity level since he is just 1 1/2 years old.

Ella, you are right -- I don't think I will ever forget that smell. I am still wanting to adopt Missy at the shelter. Her BW came back ok except for her being overweight. I don't want to go get her until Cole is out of the house. At least I know she is in a safe place and will be there when I can get her.

Hi Georgia, sending healing vines for Simon's ears. That's great Cole may have a forever home, paws crossed it all works out and the shelter adoption for your family. RIP dear little squirrel.
So glad you found a good facility for your cousin. I was following up on yesterday's condo. I hope the treatment there helps her improve.

RIP Mr. Squirrel. Hoping that Simon makes a full and speedy recovery from his scratchy ears, and I hope that his #s will improve within the next few days. Have a great day! :-D
