Nice blues last night Sprocket.

I hope your day will be easy on you Darnell and you can get a bit of rest.

At +5/328.
Feeding low carb. Ff 1carb half a can.

Ya I am not completely understanding how dropping so much then bouncing up is good.
Eventually the bounce will stop. I am told.
It has been 6 weeks from beginning of all this. March 7th..
I have petsitting this week that idk what to do if I can't be reliable.
Appts postponed a few times.
What do I say?

I thought him in 200s was good now he bounced into 300s.

4x ketones.in one month. Is he the only one? Some people have had a couple of times in past but any more?
I need to know this will balance and I can leave the house safely.
He changes so much. It will take me hours each day to be able to leave.
How do I do that?

although frustrating, at this stage of the game it's good to see the bounce reaction because it lets you know his counter regulatory systems are healthy and working to keep him safe. That and it gives you opportunity to catch your breath.;)

You must get to "know thy cat"
The more you know the easier it will be.
One important step is to make notes on the ss of what you feed and when. Last night for example - did you feed that PM+4 BG of 113? If so how much and what carbs (LC MC HC ?) How about the 108 and the 122? Once you have collected data on more active cycles (like last nights) the knowledge will help you to know what to do to be able to leave the house safely.
As I mentioned in yesterdays post , the 5 compartment programmable timed feeder was a lifesaver for me. I could leave the house knowing that at +4 and +8 he would have a meal to eat if he needed.

My BK had 2 episodes of DKA in a one month period and was very close to death. Additionally complicating the picture he had a condition (undiagnosed at the time) that required high doses of insulin. Long story short he was the cat that nobody imagined would ever achieve regulation much less remission but after 21 months he did achieve remission and it lasted 6.5 years (which was the rest of his life).
Hang in there - and hang in here.

Thanks Sandy!! That means alot to me!!! Put me in tears but hopeful tears.

I am ordering that digital feeder for him.
Thanks alot. I will add feedings to the ss. I wish I could figure out how to alter that spreadsheet on my laptop. It would be easier but I can only view it there. I have an older apple laptop.

I will add more later. Naptime for an hour or so now.
Thanks

I use a MacBook Air. What sort of problem are you having with your spreadsheet? Maybe I can help.

We've had several members whose kitty's were in and out of the ICU with DKA over a relatively short period. Things did stabilize.

I have the macbook pro. I can't seem to edit it.
Please do tell any stories you remember of other dka kitties like him.

Make sure you are logged in to your Google account. You should see your gmail address in the top right corner of the SS. Sometimes, I've gotten kicked out for some reason. If that happens, you can't edit.

The one cat that I remember was a kitty by the name of Sooty. He was on a huge amount of insulin and flew down the dose ladder. He eventually went into remission. I went to find his SS and it's no longer available. He's been off the board for years.

@Jill & Alex (GA) may be someone who would remember some of the acro kitties whose tumors revved down.

Thanks. I will try that on my laptop.
I ordered the 5 meal digital Auto feeder. Should have Monday.

He is +2.4/313. His body says it did not like those numbers last night. He didn't feel ot either. He was clinging to me foe awhile.

Hope he comes down some by morning into 200s.
I will get some sleep though tonight.
I would love to know about other dka kitties. Please share if anyone remembers.
I added more on his spreadsheet. How does that look?
