Starting off well for Champ. I'm hoping to decrease his food starting today so he can lose some weight. He's put on about 1.5 pounds since starting insulin. I would like to see him drop three pounds and get down to 14 pounds. That would make him even more perfect than he already is! :lol:

Yesterday was a bad day for me, but everyone was so incredibly awesome. Once again, you've made me feel I can do this!!

So here's to a wonderful day for everyone. :-D

Morning guys!! Not to bad of a start for Champs today - that pink looks more yellow to me... You can do it Champ - yellow, then blue... I see it in your future!

Good luck with the weight loss program. I know how it is.... Mannie needs to lose a few too.

So today we start a new - understand so well how you felt yesterday. You are doing great with him, so no worries and we keep on truckin'. :-D :-D

Champ is doing his part and is down in low sunny yellow. He usually hits his nadir really early so this may be as low as he goes today, but we shall see. I'm only going to do +3, +6, and +9 today so I can stop obsessing about his dang numbers. :lol:

Hi guys .. a very low pink to start the day and now look, at +3 already a low yellow! I bet you see blue soon ... You guys are doing great .. and I'm sure you'll tackle the weight loss program and do great on that too .. hang in there guys!

Still staying in the low yellows!! I fed him 2 oz. of Wellness chicken at PMPS and then set out 1 oz. at +3 which he snacked on from +3-4.5. I gave him some parboiled chicken breast (about .5 oz, maybe a little more) with his +6 poke. The only food I'm going to give him before his PMPS will be the chicken breast with his +9 poke. Hopefully, keeping him to this will help him lose a little bit of weight..slowly. If not, guess I'll have to reduce it more. Poor Champ. He does love his food. Did I mention that before he got sick he weighed over 21 pounds? He didn't get that way by looking at food!! :lol: :lol:

Nice job Mr. Champ. Yellow is better for a boy than pink. Hope today's a better day for you Patty.

Bev, I'm doing much better today. :-D I know you've had a stress couple of days, but hopefully this will be just the thing Gus needs.

I've got to figure out what I need to do to stop Champ from spiking his sugars in the afternoons. It drives me crazy!! It's like the insulin doesn't last a full 12 hours in him. His nadirs are usually about +3 and then he starts rising about +7, and rises fast. I wasn't going to check his BG again until +9, but I left the house for about 45 minutes and went I got back he was sooo tired so I checked it at about 15 minutes before his +8. It had already gone from 216 at his +6 to 293!!! Maybe someone out there knows if there are just some cats out there who don't keep the insulin in them for a full 12 hours.

you can edit your subject line of your first post to add the question . . . but, i'm thinking the "usual" curve, not that any cat is actually that, but i was thinking that usually the amps and pmps are fairly similar. i didn't look at champ's SS, but his +8 is still less than his amps, so it doesn't seem that bad to me. if you're giving any food after the nadir that could affect his numbers later in the day.

how much chicken are you giving when you test? someone told me it should be one piece about 1/4"x1/2" - lots less than i was thinking of for a snack. not enough to satisfy them as a meal, that's for sure.

Nothing like skipping pink altogether and going straight for the red!!! He's such a booger :-x But I love him anyway ;-)

oh darn! sorry for the 414. Champ - what are you doing way up there.... down you go!

Very nice AM cycle this morning. He'll clear the 414, don't worry. :-D
