Good morning LL. Liz has an early class so I'm putting up Zener's condo this morning. All good here this AM despite a stinky pinky start. Appy good, CPC, and poo patrol successful. ;-)

AMPS 318, 6th cycle @1.5u, 2/3PP, 1/8 Zantac, 1/3 ondansetron, 1.3oz 9%, 1/16t miralax

Zener is napping in the sun inside this morning. He made a couple of very brief trips outside, the sunny weather is so tempting, but too windy and cold! :sad:

I posted a question on yesterday's condo but it was late and I am on west coast time so I don't think many saw it. Any thoughts on frequency of Miralax dosing? We've been giving Zener about 1/8t twice a day which seems to be doing the trick, though he occasionally has soft poo. Does anyone know if twice a day dosing is best, or once a day if having some pudding poo?

Hi guys .. Well I'm glad zener decided to leave the pink floor this afternoon .. hoping he's seen enough of that color for awhile! No answer on the miralax from me, but I'm sure it won't be long before someone else can answer it! Have a great day guys!

Hi Anne,
Zener sure did come down nice there at the +4. I've only had to use Miralax a few times with Maggie. She seemed sensitive to just the smallest amount, probably the 1/8 tsp, and I only had to give once a day. It may be different with Zener. I hope you get more opinions. Have a nice day.

I think you're going to have to experiment with the Miralax. Most of the time, it's given x2/day -- usually 1/8 of a teaspoon but up to 1/4 of a teaspoon. If you're getting looser poo than desirable, I'd try x1/day

I agree with Sienne. Racci needs it all the time. I give her 1/4 tsp 2x a day but since she's taking antibiotics now I'm only giving 1/8 bid because she was a little loose. You really have to see what's best for each cat in each circumstance.

Very nice slidage......but come on back down Zener....green awaits you.

No thoughts on the miralax so glad Sienne checked in. Hope it gets him right where he needs to be :-D

Looks like Zener wasn't thrilled with that stinky pinky either!

We give our civvie, Frankie, about 1/16 tsp twice a day. We're relatively new to using it (started in December), but she seems to need a "maintenance" dose, rather than an occasional dose, and I feel more comfortable giving her a smaller quantity twice a day than a larger quantity once a day. That's solely based on my gut instinct, though!

Thanks to all for your thoughts on the Miralax! We've been experimenting with between 1/16 and about 1/32 twice a day as a maintenance dose. It is a challenge to do the small measurements with a 1/8 teaspoon, but we try. Zener looks like he is having a Lantus dip in this cycle. :roll:

I saw your "PMPS 101" and all I could think of at the moment was a class!!! Old habits die hard. anyway, it's a great number for PMPS. Have you tried FortiFlora? You might not need a real laxative if you have enough good bacteria in the digestive system, pushing everything along. One always reads that people can get dependent on laxatives; can cats?

Late coming but looking so good this evening Mr. Zener!!
Moonie has been on Miralax for 3 yrs now & her dose is 1/8 tsp. once a day.
It is pretty gentle & even my GA civvie Copper took it with much success...
Guess I would start with the starting dose, 1/8th & see how it goes...

@Michelle & Mannie - Zener loves the slide as much as he loved his trampoline! Although the slide makes beans nervous, beans like sliding better than bouncing! :lol:

@Ella - we've been professors too long, we missed all the potential funnies of PMPS 101. :oops: We've been using FortiFlora with him for a while. Our previous vet suggested using it to help with transition from dry to wet food and sometimes it has been the only thing that gets him to eat when his appy is on the fritz. We have some probiotics and prebiotics on order that Pip told us about as being good for IBD and we will give that a go when it arrives. I'm not sure about dependence on laxatives, but I think Miralax is very gentle.

@julie - PMPS 101, taught by Professor Zener Weiner, every evening at 5:30 at the University of Poo. :lol: :lol: :lol:

It's a much happier night at our house now that we know Herbie is home, BigMac is out of surgery and Zener's appy is good and green. :thumbup
