I feel like a terrible mom- I didnt retest Jupiter last night. (Didnt even wake up to take my antibiotics) Guess I slept through my alarm. =[ Dane thinks maybe it never went off- he didnt hear it last night either - and since I use my phones alarm clock - If I receive a text/if battery is full (then there is message on screen notifying me battery is full and to unplug it) - sometimes it screws the alarm up- and only after I remove the message then the alarm will go off - which doesnt make sense to me - because I would have to wake up and remove the message and then my alarm goes off that was supposed to go off hours ago. I just feel really bad that I didnt retest him last night =[ After today - I will start using a different alarm.

Got a little sleep though and ready for today! Im hoping to see some blue numbers today!!

I am feeding Jupiter freeze dried chicken and turkey as treats. I am wondering is it okay that I am feeding him a treat after everytime that I test?

Nice start for Jupiter. I suspect his numbers were fine last night.

I give Gabby treats after each poke. As long as the treats are LC, you can give as many as you like. It is also good to provide a treat after each test. Jupiter will associate the testing with treats vs. with pain. That we use treats with testing is why our cats will come running for a test. They view it as the means to get a treat!!

I assume the freeze dried chicken and freeze dried turkey treats are low carb?

What kind of treats do you feed your cats? - just curious =]

Hi guys .. bummer on not hearing the alarm .. we had one too many nights of that and ended up putting an alarm clear across the room! We use purebites with mocha .. she loves the freeze dried chicken . have a great day guys!

Those numbers look like a nice curve so far for the day. I'll be interested to see what his PMPS will be. I know you want those numbers to be lower, but it just takes time sometimes. I guess that's why they say "patience is a virtue." Hang in there, you're doing great with him.

Atleast his numbers have been in the yellows today - havent seen any pinks yet. Will retest at +2

Nice flat yellows sometimes mean some action is in the works...keep your eyes peeled!

Yep, the freeze dried chicken treats are low carb. We use PureBites for Trix. And, we buy the large dog bag, rather than the cat bag...the dog bag is more cost-effective. We just break the treats up into kitty-sized bites. Definitely give treats after every test - even after tests where you don't successfully get a drop of blood. Like Sienne said...before you know it, "test time" becomes "treat time", and they come running.

Yeah we had to buy the cat ones for the turkey because they didnt have ones for dogs in turkey flavor. We did get a small bag of the dogs freeze dried chicken - they had cat bags, and large bags but we went with the more medium size bag in the dog section.

Still working on transitioning him completely to the pate - cant wait til hes fully transitioned - hoping that helps bring his numbers down a lot too.

Had to buy treats prior to this dose increase to make sure I had enough here!! and lots of test strips too!

PMPS was 297. +2 was 236. Jupiter just ate after +2. Wondering when I should test again next?

Do I always just need to test at +2? Then if that number is lower the PS I need to test at +4, correct? And how do I know if I should test again after that?

I like getting the +2 and if it is much lower than the PS, getting another test is helpful. Which test depends on his numbers. Obviously, if he was in green and his number was much lower, I'd probably get a +3. His +2 is within meter variance of his PS. I'd probably get a +4 and if he's still flat, Id go to bed.

How much can the numbers vary that I dont need to worry about testing again?

Like for example - if his number was like 20 lower - would I need to test again after +4?

Sorry - I am just confused about when to test. Still trying to learn everything - and taking pain medicine doesnt help me to understand any better!

If he comes down into blue at +4, Id test again at +6. If he's rising at that point, don't test anymore. The other really good test to get is a +11 because it lets you know if he is dropping going into his PS.

Hi Jamie, are you hanging in there tonight? I know you're tired, so for your sake, I hope Jupe holds steady for you so you can get some rest. Is your +4 in a few minutes?

Yep getting ready to test now. I always do his test 5-10 mins before the hour... That way I can consistently give him insulin right on the hour

305 =[ I didnt want it to be too low - but I was still really hoping he would stay in the yellow range today. atleast its not too high barely in pink range. I can get a +11 tomorrow for sure (before the PMPS if thats okay).. if it needs to before before AMPS I think I could probably only get a +10 tomorrow (Dane could do it in the morning before work but he has to leave at 7am which would be +10 not +11)

I'd go to bed. If you could get either a +10 or +11 it would be great. Maybe this is a high before a break...passes crossed.
