Checks is well fed, well hydrated, active. I ordered new insulin. this one is day 31, of a vial. It should be good, but I'm suspicious, because of this red number.
I don't know how long I should be waiting for a change after AB. Last dose was last night.

Seems like someone would invent a way to test insulin....like put a drop in water, and see if it balls up, or sumthin' like that.

If you use one dose of new insulin, and it takes effect right away, and lowers the bg, then where does the shed come in?
I thought the shed was a reserve....so using new insulin, wouldn't really show up until old shed is gone.

Newbies....I am not stating fact....it's just a question!

Hi guys .. ugh .. checks! What's going on little man? Sorry he is so high barb .. But I do agree with you on the insulin, sure would be easier if there was a test to see if it was the insulin causing these higher numbers .. No answers on the shed from me ... have a great day guys!

Hi Barb - and good morning!

Ok Checks - down you go. there is no need to be up on that floor. The fun is elsewhere.... think blue, OK? but no diving now...

Hmmmm on the shed. not too sure, but I am declined to think that it wouldn't matter? I know when I've had insulin issues with Mannie I saw the results of new insulin right away, within the current cycle. Of course with that I wasn't dealing with an AB situation.... I wold think that within a day after stopping the ABs. ???? and I SO AGREE on being able to tell at home whether your insulin was toast or not. Wouldn't that be nice!

Enjoy your day today. :-D

Re: 4/2 Checkers amps356 +2/439 (diff meter)

I've never seen an immediate drop in numbers from replacing insulin - could be that I replace it before it has legitimately gone 'bad'. In my experience we usually just see a gradual decrease in numbers back down to somewhere near what I deem 'normal'.

Re: 4/2 Checkers amps356 +2/439 (diff meter)

silly Checkers, come play with Rupie, he misses his buddy!

re the insulin, you know what I went thru, switched to new cartridge, then thought perhaps IT was bogus, switched back to older vial... slightly better, switched back to 'old' new cartridge... still not great, finally switched to brand new cartridge and things started to happen fairly quickly. BUT we had a major dental right in the middle so who the heck knows?!

I agree with you re the testing. I think there is a massive need for something like an 'insulin' tester AND some sort of ear thermometer/startrek/scanner pointy type thing that you can just aim that reads blood sugar! wouldn't THAT be amazing!

hope Checks gets his act together soon, Rupert is alone on his pink floor and heading towards the stairs by himself... he really needs his good sidekick.

Got the new insulin. I'm inclined to believe the current one is toast, after this +6.

I was out, but am pretty sure he didn't visit the lagoon, and race back up before I got back, just to drive me nuts.

   like fudge!!!!

The way the shed works is once it is full, then the insulin you inject...be it old or new....is what is used. If it's old, then the numbers will be wonky. If the insulin is bad that is in the shed, then you refill the shed with good insulin and once
it is full, you start using the insulin you inject. At least....that's how I understand it but I could be wrong!!!

Thanks Marje.
I was thinking of the shed like a sausage tube, ya know, you put new insulin in one end and it comes out the other end.
Don't even ask how that works.

Ahh well, it's coming down a bit. At least it's a different color. :-D

I gain ten lbs reading your condo, Barb!  First fudge ...oh no..wait, I mentioned that! Ok..you mentioned the sausage.

Think of the shed more like a bucket. You can use it once you fill it. If you drain some of it, you have to fill it again.

I couldn't agree more...this has always been a big complaint of mine, too! I hope the new juice works for Checks!!!
