Mooch ate all the raw chicken breast last night without needing any EVO kibble mixed in and his blood glucose level decreased from 332 to 201 overnight. Continuing at the 0.5 unit dose but will monitor more closely over the next couple of days as I think I'll probably need to reduce it now there is no kibble.

I need to research raw more as I've never fed that as the main food and am not sure of additional additives required. I'm going to get some chicken wings/necks to see if he likes those so he can get some bone and also help his teeth. If anyone who feeds raw can recommend a good site that'd be good.

awesome drop from pulling the kibble - that is fantastic! there are recipes for raw - i don't use it, but as devon said, several people do.

if you'll put "raw advice?" in your subject line, the right people will come and give you ideas.

Re: 4/18 Mooch AMPS 201

Dr. Lisa's site has a wealth of information about using and making your own raw food. I would be careful about giving chicken wings for bone. Those bones splinter. Chicken necks may be better or if you are wanting something that's good for teeth, gizzards and heart are good. Where bone is included in raw food, it's been ground.

I fed my guys raw for about a year or so. I ground my own chicken but purchased a pre-mix that contained bone meal. The approach I used was an alternative to buying the individual supplements.

Mooch's BG was good but he only ate 25g (~1oz) of the chicken I gave him this morning. I got some thighs which may be tastier so I'll try that this evening and if he hasn't eatEn much by the time I go to bed I'll give him some of the EVO dry to keep him going. I've been making sure he gets at least 150 calories a day and that he's not losing weight while we've been doing the food experiments. He's a slim 10lb 7oz.

Mooch sends smooches to everyone!
