Mornin Partners - just got back from Hank's party & we're perten-near tuckered out. 3 Parties right in a row, keep 'em comin' partners. - L

Lanky is still perky this AM and eating very well. I tried using the food timer last night for the first time, my technique needs some tweaking. Think I may need to program the gizmo to close down (move to an empty tray) say after 2 or 3 AM. We'll keep tweaking. In the meantime we'll keep on keeping on.

Happy Saturday everyone & don't stay out too late tonight at all of the parties.

Later.

Re: 4/17 Lanky AMPS 398

Hi Susan
I noticed on your ss that your shot times are 6am/6pm
For the food timer, I always turned mine to empty 2 hours before shot time, which should be
400am for you.
How often is Lanky eating and how much.
His numbers are very stubborn in moving.
When was the last time you asked/received dosing advice.?

Re: 4/17 Lanky AMPS 398

come on down, Lanky!

2nd day of a new dose, it's not uncommon for the numbers to be higher on the 2nd day. Hopefully they'll come down tonight or tomorrow.

Re: 4/17 Lanky AMPS 398

I've posted asking dose advice several times, see below:
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12049
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11777

And then in between I've tried to add information that might help others help me.

I just got back from justing 4H home arts day. 30 little girls showing off their sewing skills for the 1st or 2nd time. They are so cute & talented. Anyway, I hope I did not miss some Lanky yellows -- I test again @ 2 PM or +8 just to see if we are heading up or down. Lanky's #'a are stubborn. He has a voracious appetite and get pretty aggressive about some time. In my notes you'll see where is brought home a 1/2 eaten lizard. I am trying to keep him in or only go out on the back porch under supervision. As the days get nicer he'll get more rambunctious. He is quite the character. Has had a hard life fending for himself on the outside, I surmise he house he ran away from are the one's who kicked him breaking his jaw. My husband thinks I am being mean or unfair if I try to limit his food but I swear he won't quit eating otherwise and he has gained weight. I am trying to feed 1-2 oz at 6AM/PM the 1oz snacks in the feeder at 9AM/PM and noon/midnight. Any advice on this is gladly welcome. We have 4 kitties, 2 of which are 17 & 16 yr. old seniors doing well for now with chronic renal disease on fluids & low phosphate diets. Feeding everyone the right stuff at the right time is a challenge. I am using lo carb/lo P food with only 1 renal kitty still getting some dry k/d kibble on a declining basis only under closely supervised conditions.

Regarding the feeder, I just made an adjustment for it to turn to an empty tray 30 minuted after opening to a snack just to make sure there will be no food out before shot time.

Let me know what you think...

Re: 4/17 Lanky AMPS 398

Did Lanky lose weight with FD -- or does he need to lose weight? If he is underweight or even if he is maintaining, I wouldn't be overly concerned about Lanky's caloric intake.FD is a starving disease. Most of our kitties will be pretty ravenous until they are regulated and as numbers improve, their appetites decrease, as well.

Re: 4/17 Lanky AMPS 398

Hi Susan
No expert here but when a cat is not regulated and their numbers are high, the food that they
eat does not get into their body as effeciently as when they are regulated.
That is why they eat a lot. I understand he weight issue but they need their food.
Libby answered with regards to dosing.
I was just concerned that there was not a lot of traffic here so I did not want you to get
"lost in the crowd". That does not happen but Lanky's numbers are high so just making sure.

Sienne is the best. I see her post just before mine submitted! :-D

Re: 4/17 Lanky AMPS 398

Brought home half a lizard?!?!
Where did the other half go?!?!?!

You certainly have a lot of juggling going on with all your cats. Bless your heart for being such a great bean and taking such good care of them!

I hope you start seeing some action on the new dose verra soon!

Ugh.. I understand that you are frustrated.. it's totally reasonable to be.. but give it another day to settle in.. and take a step back and look at the progress and be proud of that.. black numbers used to be an almost every day occurrence.. the last few days he's been getting low reds now like he used to get blacks... it's only been 10 days..

I know FD time is weird.. I saw someone post something like this.. and I've started saying it in regards to Nova.. "the last 6 months of Nova's FD has been the longest 10 years of my life" ;)..

Tomorrow night will be time to talk about dose again (for the following AM).. hold tight!

 the Lizzard eating kitty!
ewwwww!!

hang in there Susan, tomorrow is a new day, remember to yell loud for help if u need it - just add it to your main subject line.
Hope you have a good evening :-D
