Hi kids:
We are busier than one armed paper hangers here. Got lotsa work (good for us self employed) but things are really crazy. I feel bad I haven't had much time to post but I just haven't. We are truly maxxed between work (which includes travel for Tom and I, but separately due to insulin shots), eldercare, and kitty stuff.

Anywho, I had to take the time tonight to update the spreadsheet and ask you kind folks if you have any idea what's going on with Asher's numbers. He was cruising along just fine, and now its cruddy numbers generally. So, I am back putting the pressure on, we are raising dose if the numbers don't seem to get better in about 3 days (if it's safe to do so with our schedule). I was wondering if he had too much insulin originally. So we went back down for a bit, but when I saw a 300 again, back up we went. We are at 4.25 now.

Maybe this is just how it is, maybe we will never be really regulated. He was doing so good on Lantus for awhile, I was encouraged, but then this. Dunno. I am just really scared anytime he is over the renal threshold. I feel like a lousy kitty mum.

Any suggestions anyone has would be mucho appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It's really hard to juggle work, life, and a diabetic kitty. Give yourself some slack. You're doing the best you can.

The thing that jumps out at me is that you held the 4.0u dose for longer than you probably should have. It may have set up some glucose toxicity. If your schedules were such that you didn't think raising Asher's dose was safe, it's understandable why you held the dose. (I don't think dropping the dose back to 3.75u helped, either.) If that was the case, it may take more insulin to overcome the situation. I'd just suggest systematically raising the dose until Asher is back the range where you want him.

Hi Donna,
I agree. You are doing what you can.
Maybe you'll have a window to systematically get Asher increased as Sienne said.
Nice to have you pop in with an update! cat_pet_icon

Thank you Sienne and Rhiannon for your encouraging comments. High numbers just get me down.
We are gonna keep the pressure on for the immediate future and hope that his numbers go down. At least one of us will be here with him much of the day for the next two weeks.
The best thing is that he is acting normal and being naughty  so we assume he feels well. All the P's are good.
Thanks again!
