Sid has had a little bit of an upset stomach today. He vomited and I found carpet pieces in it. So that means he is eating carpet again. He didn't want too much of his dinner and i had 3 different kinds of food open. This morning I resorted to some hc Whiskas in the packet and I think that might be why his bg stayed around 300 all day. Tomorrow night I have a consultation with an animal communicator. I"m looking forward to what I might find out... I'll give you all an update afterward.

Have a good Sunday.

Definitely looking forward to hearing what you find out, Lydia.

So sorry you guys are having a hard time. Sending you lots of healing energy! Looks like the dose decrease helped him get out of the blacks  I know the feeling when they don't want to eat. Give him whatever he wants if that will help keep food in his tummy. I've gotta tell ya Lydia... you need a SPA DAY!!!!! I am still going through my whole move situation, but I do check in even if I haven't posted. Can't wait to hear what the animal communicator tells you :-D Hugs to you both!!!

Unfortunately, the animal communicator did not tell me much or at least anything that I could directly say "really" came from Sid. One thing she did say when I asked her if he liked living with me better than where he was before was that he felt like he was in jail before and hid all the time but he likes it better at my house. Well, he didn't hide all the time at the sanctuary but I suppose you might say he felt overwhelmed by the other cats there. I think almost anyone could make that guess without even knowing Sid - call me a cynic I guess. I asked her if he was in pain and she told me that he wasn't and was feeling pretty good. I'm not sure I believe that. Overall I wouldn't recommend a consult with her. I was disappointed.

Sid seemed to be in some pain today because he started trembling when I gave him his SQ fluids. I gave him some buprenex around noon. It didn't seem to really improve his appetite but I was able to get him to eat 2 jars of baby food along with some miscellaneous licks of several different kinds of other food today. He particularly enjoys licking gravy without eating any chunks... I believe I can give him more appetite stimulant tomorrow (I hope) but I have to check if it is tomorrow or the next day. I'm considering getting a feeding tube placed (again). He does not like to be syringe fed at all. When I do that (as I did today about 20 mls), he then hides and runs away from me afterward.

Sorry to hear you were disappointed, Lydia
The fluids weren't a different temperature today for any reason were they?
Hoping Sid decides he is hungry soon. Too bad you can't say "Look Sid, it's either the syringe or we have to do the tube thing again." I'm betting he'd choose the syringe if given that choice.

Prayers and best thoughts coming your way. C'mon, Sid, help momma out!

I didn't really expect great things from her but she was really off base!! Oh well!!

Yesterday was Sid's day for the mirtzapine (appetite stimulant). It maybe improved things a little bit but his bg has been kind of high all day. Hopefully that is not from the mirtzapine.

I think you are probably right about the fluids Carl. I keep them at room temperature but maybe they were colder yesterday than normal. Today I put him in a beam of sunshine and he did a little better. He doesn't like it but he didn't tremble as much.

Hey Lydia -

Sorry Sid's not eating well for you. I always give Grayson fluids when he's eating... today I was even able to walk across the room while he continued to eat - and didn't move an inch! By the time the last of the bag was in the IV line, he decided he was done, and walked away. At least it wasn't a LOT of fluids, but they were spraying a little bit! :o

There was a video I watched on force-feeding. It doesn't look pleasant, but I'm not sure how pleasant the feeding tube is either. Sorry I don't have any advice there... fortunately my guy continues to eat well. Speaking of which, I guess I need to go test/feed/shoot.

Although he doesn't like being force fed, I have to believe he understands that you're doing it for his own good. It's just that sometimes, we don't like something - regardless of how good it is for us. Like brussel sprouts. Good luck - I'm sure you'll do what's best to get him nutrition.
