How worried should I be about this 109? I know the AMPS are usually higher, and his PMPS last night was 89.

But these AMPS are trending upward -- 88, then 98, then 101, now this -- and it's a little scary. Is he going to make it to trial?

Hillary gave me a link a few weeks ago about how numbers below 120 could be fine for a diet-regulated kitty. So I'm not losing hope, but this number is not what I hoped for.

Re: 4/15 Kitty AMPS 109!!

No biggie. I bet Kitty's own pancreas will bring that down, that is the key. I do know that feeling you get when you see 3 digits in the meter instead of two, but bodies producing their own insulin also go up and down. The BG's go down as needed with natural insulin, rather than just when a bunch of exogenous insulin shoves it down.

You wait, and I'd guess the next number will be lower.

When my kitty was on insulin it was more predictable when to expect greens, but on his own insulin I sometimes don't know when I'll see a blue and get worried. But (so far) it never fails that later on his pancreas would bring his BG's back in line. You and Kitty are on such a small amount that most of the work is done by "his own self." Ok?

Nope, not worried about Kitty.

Re: 4/15 Kitty AMPS 109!!

Don't worry, it really is in the normal range. Sometimes we beans just get obsessed w/ greens.

Re: 4/15 Kitty AMPS 109!!

Kathy you are so focused to getting OTJ, you really need to relax & be happy for how well Kitty is doing--Stress never helped anyone..
Kitty is doing terrific & if it is this month, or next month, what's the difference?? I so wish Moonie had Kitty's numbers!!
Be Joyful!!

Re: 4/15 Kitty AMPS 109!!

I feel for you Kathy since Scrabble got a 107 this morning!!! I am in the same boat as you, I just want to get to a trial and you don't want anything getting in your way! I feel for you, Scrabble and I are rooting you on!!!

Re: 4/15 Kitty AMPS 109!!

we are rooting you on too! I know it's hard to not stress over numbers. I can honestly say I do stress over mochas numbers, but I am a stresser. Always have been, always will be. I can't sit here and tell you to not worry, cause I would be, but I can see it from a third person view, and I can tell you that 109 is a beautiful NON diabetic number!

Re: 4/15 Kitty AMPS 109!!

Kathy, you remind me of how I felt yesterday, when i got a 107 from Checkers. My daughter was here, and when I showed my disappointment, she reminded me that 107 was a wonderful, normal number, and I should be grateful.
I agreed. I wish I had that number today. (sigh)
Ya gotta put it all in perspective. Kitty is doing great....and so are you!!

Re: 4/15 Kitty AMPS 109, +5.5 86

Thanks, Barb! These micro-doses can mess with one's mind. @-)

All the same... I feel much better seeing his two-digit +5.5.

Re: 4/15 Kitty AMPS 109!!

So if you freaked out can you imagine what happened to me today.
Last day of trial and Max gives me a 103. Are you kidding???
The past 3 days he has gone up slightly by 10's.
So I stayed home and got a +2. Well he was in the 70's already.
At .5, Kitty is pretty much working on his own and is doing amazing.
When it is time, it will be time.
I counted the days, estimating 3 weeks from when it happened and
Max just had other plans. The longer they stay in these wonderful ranges
so much better for the healing P's.

Did you ever think you would be down here as well Kathy.
You know several months ago when Max was so high in dose and numbers,
Heather told me to have a look at your ss. Guess she really knows her stuff.
Look at us now. :-D :-D :-D

Randi, I would FREAK with a capital F!!!!!!

BTW, Kitty is at .1, not .5. Today is his 5th day on .1!

PMPS 77

DH said Kitty ate TWO breakfasts this morning -- maybe that accounts for the 109.

Today was a FF + Evo 95% Chicken & Turkey day. He ate a couple of plates, then refused it for dinner. :YMSIGH:

I have given fair trials to so many foods, and I'm about out of time. I may pick up some cans of 9 Lives tomorrow, but otherwise, I guess we'll have to go with new label FF chicken. He doesn't enjoy it, but it doesn't raise his numbers.

Kitty did GREAT today!
hey Kathy..you know Hank's been finicky lately too while trying out these new foods. But seems a couple he turned his nose up at before are getting a 2nd chance. I have to remember he was not feeling well n the beginning...and was off his carbs, so much of it probably didn't appeal.
You might try some again to see. Also, sprinkling something on top to entice is also really working. The canned core we tried yesterday was a hit.

He's doing great on the new dose! Good going.

cats are so weird about food. Mine will happily eat FF chicken and FF turkey for every meal without complaints. They also LOVE Wellness CORE wet, but they won't eat it two days in a row. If I give it 2-3 times a week they're thrilled, but not more. I dunno... I'm sure it's because they know I want them to eat the premium food, and they DO like it but they're not about to admit that because it would make me happy.

Wellness CORE is a different variety of Wellness. There's a chicken & turkey one and a seafood one. There's a thread on Health right now about carb content. The seafood one is probably too high for right now (more like MC) but the chicken/turkey one might be ok. It's ok for Lucy but she isn't very carb sensitive.

Thanks, Libby, I'll check out that thread.

I might end up feeding a little Evo a couple of times a week -- but those big cans are a problem, it goes stale.

Where is the perfect catfood!?!??! Oh, right. Mice. :o

Mice= Cowboy Cookout. Cowboy Cookout = Mice.

to '-un-stale' food. Add some water drips (you know this)...nuke ever so briefly (you know this too)
AND perhaps mix in a little of another variety....stir. If still ambivalent, add sprinkles of something on top (chicken dust, 2-3 evo crumbles, etc..)
Hank won't eat the original Evo, even though I want him to. ..likes some of the 95% ones ok on SOME days.

But how are sweet potatoes = mice? I tried the Cowboy Cookout, and Kitty said, vegetables, are you kidding me?? I could see him sniff them out and avoid them! It was kind of cute.

I appreciate all the work you're doing looking for new low-carb food, Betty. Isn't the timing awful??

Kitty has been on FF since he was diagnosed. It was what I could get him to eat instead of dry. I think I've tried everything now that's below 5 on the carb scale.
