Yesterday's adventure: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11980

Our plan is to withhold insulin for two days to clear what looks like chronic rebound. Then, we'll pitch the very old bottle of Lantus and get a fresh start with Lev.

She's not in the mood to eat today but otherwise is in good spirits.

Thank you all for your advice and moral support. Yesterday was a very scary day, and it meant so much to have so many people helping and rooting for us. :YMHUG:

Goodness! Those low lows were horrifying to me, but you sure handled it all so well!
A well deserved rest for you two today, and I hope she does eat a little something.

Good luck with the Lev; I switched too for both Shadoe and Oliver.

Actually surprised Kitty isn't higher after a 28 yesterday!! She's probably still on her way up... be interesting to see her no-insulin numbers in a few cycles when that bounce clears..

If she's not on insulin.. she can't hypo.. so for the next cycle or two you can leave her ears alone a fair bit.. hopefully that curbs her growly/scared when she sees you.. if it were me.. I'd get a test later tonight.. what would have been PM shot time.. or maybe a little later if the timing works out better for you.. but leave her alone until then.. except for happy visits :).

You can plug those tests into your SS from last night too.. +13 at PM+1, +14 at PM+2, etc.. the no insulin at PMPS time explains things.

Fantastic job getting through yesterday with (at least part of) your sanity still intact ;).

I hope you both have a nice restful day today. I bet she's not eating because she's stuffed to her eartips from yesterday! Poor girl and poor you! I saw that it went on all evening too. I bet you are both exhausted I-) I am just from reading what you went through! Thank you so much for taking care of this girl :YMHUG: Once she starts feeling a bit better, she'll realize you are the one who helped her get there and she'll forgive you. Maybe try giving her lots of lc treats today when you go in for happy visits will help it happen sooner, do you have anything on hand that would be good for that? Even if she's not hungry she'll probably go for yummy-nummy treats.

I hope you're holding up. I can't imagine how stressful this all was for you and Kitty both. Given how little info there is on Kitty, starting over on the dose makes so much sense and it will give you far better control of the situation and an understanding of her needs. I also hope a couple days of no poking will help to convince her that every time you walk in the room, it's not just to poke her!!

You did a great job yesterday. Those kind of prolonged numbers keep everyone on the edge of their seats.

Re: 4/15 Foster Cat Kitty: 311 Now

It's still Thursday at my house, and Kitty had her last insulin shot Wednesday morning. The liqui-poo seems to be gone, at least for now. She's happy and purry when she sees me coming with food.

The 311 was about an hour after her regular evening shot time. I was sort of distracted yesterday and didn't get much work done, so I've been trying to catch up tonight. I'm going to update her ss now.

The first time she was in the shelter, her name was Jasmine (spelled Jasmyne). The people who adopted her renamed her Kitty. When they returned her -- six years later -- the shelter pulled her old records and started calling her Jasmyne. Really, I think Kitty's a better fit for her. She's not Jasmine-elegant, she's all cat. I would keep her if I could. She's great and a wonderful, comfortable companion, even when she's growling at me.
