Re: 4/14 punkin amps 258 +3/168
As I was thinking about Karrie & Maverick, I was recalling all of my kitters. So just for myself, I'm going to remember them here. If you want to tell about your kitties on your condo, let me know - i like kitty stories!
my first cat, "Kitty," was abandoned at a grocery store when i was in 8th grade. i thought she was going to get killed in the automatic doors and begged my mom to let me find her a good home. which i did!

she was a beautiful long haired black and white girl, maybe 2 months old, with random markings. Kitty only lived til my sophomore year in college and died of feline leukemia.
my second cat had been dumped into a creek than ran through my college campus the summer after my jr year. "TC" was a tiny thing, i don't think weaned yet because she kept sucking on my earlobe! I was going across the bridge and could hear a tiny meow, which i followed to find her in the reeds. TC was a tuxedo cat with the softest, silky fur and the classic tuxedo markings. white toes in front and white socks in back, not to mention a bit of "milk" on her upper lip and a white throat. She was my baby! I was working on campus and had her in the HR apartment, then my senior year she lived in the dorm. I would leave my door open and her on a leash so she could get out into the hallway and accept attention from the passers-by! One time the dean of housing walked by my window and commented to my friend "isn't julie's illegal kitty cute?!" I appreciated that he never made me get rid of her, even though it was against the rules. Anyway, then she lived with me in apartments and through me beginning a family. When i brought home my first baby TC wouldn't be in the room with me for a full 2 weeks. She was so bent out of shape when I entered a room she left. Eventually she recovered her ego and forgave me. She passed away at age 16, when that baby was 9.
Then we got Felix when he was about 8 weeks old. I waited a year after TC died and picked him out myself from the shelter on Mother's Day. He was a tabby - big boy! at one point he was 24 lbs! He developed some sort of obstruction in his bowel, and although they operated to see if it could be removed, it was too far along and we had him euthanised. sad day.
When Felix was about 4, I took my high school youth group to volunteer at the shelter, which we did regularly. Punkin was there, about a year old. He'd been in the shelter for about 3 months after being homeless on the streets. His story is on his profile, but I fell in love with him on the spot. the kids were, of course, all conspiring to get me to adopt him and I couldn't resist! He was far more trusting of Felix than of the humans at our house, though, and it took him 6 months to come out from behind the washer and the refrigerator. He loved Felix, though, so had a buddy before he had us.
And then we have Anya, the sweet little 2 year old that we think might have some Norwegian Forest cat in her. She's tiny, only about 7 lbs, and seldom meows. She does have a "trilling" sound that she makes sometimes. She's the klepto in the family - every day when we open the door to the stairway she has some trophy she's found in the basement that she's brought to the top of the stairs. plastic flowers, sewing machine parts, toe socks - always a surprise. she "belongs" to our foster daughter who is now living in an apt that doesn't allow pets. I must admit that I dread having her want to take Anya. She is too rough with Anya and Anya actually runs from her, but I haven't been able to gently teach her to be less rough.
anyway, now i feel better for having remembered all the kitters out loud. i've also had dogs, rabbits & guinea pigs - 7 years ago we had 12 pets at once! It was grim, though, having them all die of old age in a relatively short amount of time. There are 11 buried on our back yard so i won't ever be able to move!
I'd love to hear about your critters!
