Kitty is at the vet today starting her new regiment. She received sub q fluids this morning and we started a new vial of insulin. The plan was to up the dose to 4 units, but the vet and I agreed to keep it at 3.5 units, just in case the insulin was "bad" and throwing off the numbers. She was without insulin for 15 hours prior to testing today.

I just called to check on her--she was HI this morning (above 600) and in 3.5 hours was just above 300--the tech thought it was 323, but was not certain. Assuming this is the correct information, I am wondering--could the insulin have been our problem? It was 68 days in use and we have gotten very little movement off of increasing doses.

Based on her earlier patterns, I would think she would drop so more. I know from comments on the board, that you get more "free fall" on high numbers..But....

It probably is wishful thinking, but wouldn't it be great if the insulin was our problem?

Based on this drop---would one assume that insulin resistant can be tossed out the window?

I will update her situation later.

You were 3 hours past your shot time plus vet stress on top of that. The HI doesn't surprise me. Going down to 300s within a few hours could mean that she wasn't as stressed and was getting used to her surroundings more. You will get a better idea of if the new vial is working better once you get some numbers at home

Are her eating patterns the same there as at home? That can change the picture too.
