Jude's still elevated. I've taken a urine specimen to the vet's office and am waiting for a report on the UA.

The vet emailed back to say that Jude doesn't have any bacteria in his urine, so vet thinks we're dealing with a FIC flare. We've decided to go ahead a put Jude on Buprenorphine instead of Gaba and Prazosin. He took quite a while to recover from the last UTI/flare, and I'm thinking that a stronger pain reliever might help accelerate the recovery. I'm VERY nervous about giving him the Bup, though. I've heard it can really make cats loopy. We'll see how he does on it.

If he's too zonked, I would think you could cut the dose a bit and see how he does??

I hope he gets over it very quickly and the BG comes back down soon.

So sorry that Jude is having an FIC flare but also happy it’s not a UTI.

Trixie was on bupe after her dental and was not loopy at all. Slept a bit more was all. ECID though. She hated the taste, so I prepped a small syringe of water to chase the bupe down and rinse out her mouth and that seemed to help her.

Thanks for that feedback, Kat. As I said, I'm a bit worried about it. One of Jude's previous vets looked at me like I was crazy when I said I wanted to give it a try--he said it's really powerful and will make Jude super loopy. It's good to hear Trixie's experience. Also, we have the transdermal, so we won't need to worry about the taste.
