As many of you know Atlas has been diagnosed with Feline Distemper.

Many times in the course of this week I wanted to point fingers, but what those pointing fingers show is a load of circumstances that seem so highly improbable as to afix blame a near impossibility.

From Attie never getting his 2 or 4 week booster after his initial vacc. to that discrepency being missed by two vet clinics to a major facility in our area not recognizing a Feline Distemper case in their facility and clearing the case to go to foster care...

Feline Distemper is highly contagious and easily transmitted. Clothes, shoes, brooms, even mops can become sources for the virus to hide...and it is viable for a year...365 days....and the animal sheds the active virus for 6 weeks post treatment!

Do I need to tell you all my head and heart have just burst. One for excrutiating journey of that foster kitty and one for my Atlas.

For once in my life I am moved and astounded by the generosity of friends and strangers on the internet. I am thank-full for every single one of you.

Attie seemed more alert today, he is no longer in the parvo hunch. He continues to ooozzzzz feces, but we are expecting that to stop today and hopefully we'll see some appetite return in the next day or two. His fuzzy butt has been shaved so we can expedite cleaning him up several times a day/night. Laundry seems to be running anytime I am home. He has his own private nurse at the clinic who is a vet tech who absolutely fell in love with him this week. She has nicknamed him Bubba and can often be caught snuggling him and telling him he smells just like a baby's butt.

I found this article for those of you who would like to get an idea of Attie's treatment plan. A New Treatment for Parvoenteritis Attie is being treated at the vet's office during the day and then he is returning home in the evenings.

Beth, I'm continuing to pray and send healing vines to Attie for a full recovery. I've got my boyfriend, parents, and all my Facebook friends doing the same. I feel very strongly that Atlas is going to pull through this. Thank for the update. My boyfriend was asking about him this morning. Know that we are holding both you and Attie in our hearts. :YMHUG:

Sending healing vines to Attie ASAP. Come on Attie....we are pulling for ya....And I loved hearing how kind and compassionate his personal Vet tech was.

Hugs for you as well Beth.

Please keep us posted,

Tena

He is such a tough character, I can't imagine some measly little parvo virus is gonna get the best of him!!! Go Atlas!

I wish I was closer to help out .. even cleaning up after a runny butt :-D You guys are in my thoughts and prayers, hang in there, update when you can, and know we are thinking of you ((((Hugs)))) ((((Scritches)))))

I just picked-up Atlas from the vet this evening....

According to Dr. Nappier,
Atlas is doing FREAKING great!

If we have no complications or setbacks in the next 24 hours...Atlas may be going off hospitalization.
He will move from IV's and injections to SubQ's and oral meds.

The Dr. will still want to see him daily for the next 7-10 days(including Sunday), but things look really good right now.

The stinky butt stuff seems to have stopped AND Attie thought that bowl of kibble in his cage looked tasty AND he opted to give some of it a try! We appear to be on schedule for the day 3 from the article I linked.

Go Atlas what a boy! I missed the diagnosis somwhere along the line but am so glad to hear he is doing so FREAKING well :-D Sending mega healing vines his way. He must look so cute with his shaved rump.

Woohoo!!!! That is FREAKING wonderful!   Continuing to send healing energy to Atlas and strength to you.

This is such wonderful news! I remember when Attie came to you, and how you brought him from a very challenging spot to this beautiful fluffball. I believe you two can do it again! I'm so glad the news was good today. I have been thinking of you lots.

Such GREAT NEWS! Keep up that good healing work, Attie! Beth, he is such a fighter. I am so glad that he is getting FREAKIN' better!

Lots more vines for Attie tonight!

Beth and Attie,

Marje filled me in on what has been going on and I just want to add my prayers for a full recovery. I was so happy to read this condo tonight and see that Attie is doing so well. Sending strong healing vines and lots of love to you and Attie. Warms my heart to hear how well things are moving along.

I just read Atlas's Humble Beginnings. Wow. He is one tough kitty.

this is one of the reasons DCIN agreed to take on our case...

Attie is one tough kitty. He has been through so much...

Without DCIN's help, Atlas would have been put to sleep on Thursday.
