The only thing I can see is that when the insulin is gone, he is not getting any pancreatic action to help out. He does have longer cycles sometimes but assume it is a little higher dose lasting a little longer, maybe not his pancreas?
I think, for now, Deb, you just keep trying to keep him in those good numbers and catch the rise. It's exhausting and discouraging, but his chart looks amazing in terms of nice numbers below the renal threshold. It is not an easy way to have a diabetic cat, but at least he doesn't have dramatic slides and dangerous cycles. We can only hope that, at some point, his pancreas decides to wake up and join the party. And if not, that he settles down and gets into more stable cycles.
