we gave her .5 this morning, and left some lc food out (wet) so she decides to spike. silly girl.

I told DH to give her 1 unit this evening prob already gave. I will retest when i get home, since we have no more strips, and i'm getting a bean meter tonight after work.

Just wondering if the pudding poo might have something to do with this? Figgure it's from the clavamox she's on.

Any ideas?

Antibiotics often cause liqui-poo. I've used plain Greek yogurt to treat diarrhea and or Fortiflora.

So I would vote that it is the antibiotic causing Tasha's poo rather than her numbers. :-D

I suspect CD is corredt -- antibiotics often have the unwanted side effect of liquipoo. FortiFlora can be ordered on line. Any plain yogurt (no sugar) with active cultures may also work. My guys don't like it so I use FortiFlora or other probiotic.

I would suggest that you give the same amount of insulin at AM and PM. For tomorrow, please consider giving Tasha 0.5u at both shot times. I'm concerned that her numbers may drop low again tonight so please get a test or two in.

i'm home now, did a +3 and got 73 gave 1 tsp ff hc and some tuna with hyper-t med will retest in 15 mins

am definatly going to shoot .5 am and pm tomorrow.

got some greek plain yogurt, they didn't have any small reg yogurts.

the actual reading was 43 on a bean meter so i added 30 to keep readings the same. it's my backup for now - a relion confirm.

using my daughters netbook so bear with me if spellinhg is wonkey :lol: that and the 7 is sticky

If Tasha is like Gabby, you'll want to thing about getting early tests so you're not surprised. I'd suggest a +2. If you look at Gabby's SS, I test at +1, +2, +3, and +4 routinely -- and sometimes more.

Will you be around after you shoot tomorrow?

Karisa: you might also "talk" to Sienne and/or Laurie about feeding schedules. Gracie used to drop like this (and still sometimes has drops) but it's gotten MUCH better since I got her on a specific feeding schedule. It really has helped to front load her. Good luck.

Gave another tsp ff hc after last test, I would deffinatly be interested in a feeding schedule, how much and when.

Unfortunatly I won't be home tomorrow to test those times, but I will be on tues. I will see if my hubby can do those tomorrow night. Might not be able to do the +1 because we have someone coming out to look at a truck, but should be able to do +2 and i will be home for the +3, +4.

I still plan on doing a curve tues night. gonna test again in 30

good job karisa - you're handling her low numbers like a pro!

are you feeling comfy handling it with the high carb food tonight? i'm thinking you're still reporting in alpha trak numbers, so i *think* you could give her a drop of karo with the food to pull her up. you want to keep testing every 20-30 minutes until you've passed the nadir and she has 2 rising numbers in a row.

I think she'll be alright with the hc, but i do have plenty of karo if needed. planning to retest at 9 wich will be 3.45 not 4 still not adding up since +4 is 9:45

somehow my + numbers are messed up, been a long day. times are central

i know what you mean about the times - somehow we always "slide" forward in time - i think it's because it takes a few minutes to test them and feed them.

someone more expert than me should comment on this, but i am assuming that because she went below 50 on a human meter (80 alphatrak) that you should drop her next dose.

That worked +3.45 95 this one is right since +4 is in 15minutes.

will get another at +4.15 or 10:00 central in 30 mins

you go to your first post of the day and edit - then remove some of your earlier numbers so you can put the current ones in. glad she's come up for you!

Please make sure you leave food out for Tasha. Numbers that are brought up with HC and Karo can wobble and come back down with a crash.

How much you feed depends on your cat's ideal weight. Dr. Lisa's site on feline nutrition uses this formula to calculate the amount of calories needed per day:
Required calories per day = [13.6 X optimal lean body weight in pounds] + 70​
Female cats generally weigh 10 - 11 lbs. Using this formula, a 10 lb cat would get 206 calories per day.

When you feed depends on whether you're home to feed or if you have a timed feeder. Some cats need to acclimate to a timed feeder. Much of when you feed is a process of trial and error. It may be hard to sort out what's going on until you get Tasha's dose stabilized. Ideally, you want to give frequent, smaller portions so that you don't overwhelm a healing pancreas. We refer to these as mini-meals. For starters, how about dividing Tasha's food for each cycle into thirds. Feed 1/3 at preshot, at +2 and +4. Keep good notes in the comments section of your SS as to what you're seeing. Like I said, this may not give you much information until you have a dose that doesn't keep throwing Tasha into low numbers and you have to keep feeding HC.

ok will be getting ;a timed feeder at the end of next week--payday, hopefully i'll have better contorll over the low numbes
