4/10 Max AMPS 97 +2 75 +3 48 +4 50 (51 on AT) +5 77 +6 96 PMPS 190 +2 160 +3.5 106

Gave Max some MC and will keep monitoring. He’s eating well so far, but also having pancreatitis and questionable IBD flare so there’s diarrhea since last night. I’m not really sure what’s going on with him. Maybe a bowel infection? I’ve called the vet again. She must have been on vacation from Easter when I called last week about the extremely low lymphocytes and haven’t heard back. They said she would be in today. I’ve been treating him here at home with his Cerenia and Ondansetron, as well as Buprenorphine and a small dose (25 cc qod) of sub q fluids for the pancreatitis. He’s been having such great cycles lately and I’d like to think the 5.75 units of Lev and the treatment was making him better, but now this. Hard not to be worried. I will take him back down to 5.5 tonight maybe? Any ideas of what’s going on? @Wendy&Neko

Gave MC @+3, then HC @+4 (HC could be too high but not sure if his tummy will tolerate too many extra feedings today).

I would take his dose down. When an acro/IAA kitty starts to look all flat and green, it's often the sign of a dose reduction coming. Unfortunate, as he was looking really good on this dose. But maybe just a 0.25 unit reduction will keep him that way.

You could be right on the possible IBD flair, they can be nasty. And p'titis is often a companion with it. Though it typically raises the numbers. Hope the vet calls back soon.

I agree it’s unfortunate that I have to decrease him but I had rather be safe. Not knowing what’s going on with his tummy too. I don’t want to have to keep stuffing him with food to keep him up. I hope he’s okay. I felt like the pancreatitis was getting better then the diarrhea started. He acts like he feels better other than the diarrhea. Thanks.

Max’s vet called me back. She said the low number of lymphocytes were not concerning because his total WBCs were normal. Whew, that’s reassuring. Most likely coming from the use of steroids. He’s on Budesonide as well as Flovent inhaler. Both steroids are localized to the affected areas (bowel, lungs) but a small amount may get into the bloodstream. She said to continue what I’m doing in treating the pancreatitis and she also prescribed metronidazole for the diarrhea. She said we will start with that as well as a good prebiotic and probiotic. He’s already on Visbiome. I’ve just been to pick up his metronidazole, more subQ fluids and pain meds for him. Hoping we can get him feeling better. I hope the reduction works. I definitely don’t want to see his old patterns coming back. I think those high BGs triggered the pancreatitis and IBD flare in Max. It doesn’t take long for that to happen. We had such a good thing going with this dose, but we will go with what we know now and hope for the best!

PMPS +3.5 he’s down to 106. Looks like the 5.75 depot working. I gotta sleep tonight. Max kept me up last night blowing up the litter box in the hallway bathroom. Tonight he hasn’t pooped yet. I gave him MC mixed with a tiny bit of leftover HC. We will see if that will hold him for a while. Good night.
