Re: 4/10 Frank AMPS 306 Quick Question!

Bounces generally occur in response to low numbers -- blues and greens. I think what you saw yesterday was a yellow start and numbers rising after nadir.

That makes sense. But what about days when he never rises up from nadir..? He keeps going lower through PMPS and beyond.....? what's that?

Re: 4/10 Frank AMPS 306 Question about rising and dropping bgs!

Remember that Lantus should give a flat curve. That's one explanation. Frank may be producing some endogenous insulin which is helping to keep his numbers down, especially in the latter part of the cycle. And of course the every popular explanation, he's a cat. His behavior is meant to be confusing.

Re: 4/10 Frank AMPS 306 Question about rising and dropping bgs!

When do you suppose his nadir occurs? Shadow's is at +8 and he rises until PMPS and then, with the food onboard, his BGs usually go up after that. Doesn't Frank rise with food? Sienne is right though....about the confusion of what kitties do and why.... we always try our best to figure it out. But, they keep confusing issues!

After a look at his SS I'm not able to say with certainty. With cycles that have some kind of curve, I'd say it's around +6+7. I need more data.

Re: 4/10 Frank AMPS 306 Question about rising and dropping bgs!

Can you get a +8 today maybe? And then tonight, do a +3 and a +5 maybe?
If you alternate the hours each day, a pattern will emerge. When Shadow goes lower at +4 I know that he has 4 more hours to go even lower before his usual nadir of +8. I can then change the drop with a little LC food if necessary but at least I know that he is going low that cycle.

Review the sticky at the top of the page "STICKY: LANTUS & LEVEMIR - NEW TO THE GROUP? PLEASE READ..."
It shows the typical hours in the cycle and what the numbers should show. ECID of course, so each cat will have a different nadir...
That sticky also gives this link to this also http://petdiabetes.wikia.com/wiki/Curve

Will you have some time to do a mini curve...maybe do one on one day and then again on the following day?

Re: 4/10 Frank AMPS 306 Frank's having a good day.

Frank is having a good day! I can tell he is starting to feel better. Yesterday and today he hung around in the kitchen after breakfast, which is new lately. He made a little chirping sound acknowledging Bootsy, his housemate, when he entered the room. This I don't think I ever heard from Frank. I hope this continues.

...and it looks like today his nadir was +6 or +7.

Awww, a little chirping sound of acknowledgment.. so sweet. I like hearing when kitties start to feel better. Yeah for Frank! (and to you too for helping him get better.) :-D
