Hey everybody,

Xander had his vet visit today. Physical exam didn't show anything obvious. She double-checked his teeth and said that they probably haven't progressed since the last vet looked at them, definitely didn't need treatment right away and weren't the problem. We did a blood panel (added to the labs tab on the spreadsheet) and she said that the results are basically normal, but we sent out for Spec fPLO, urine and fecal panels. She originally planned on doing x-rays but she didn't think it was likely to be necessary and is leaning more toward the pancreatitis we suspected, or possibly (although unlikely given that we're on city water, Xander is strictly an indoor cat and has no contact with other animals) giardia. She said that he's very well hydrated (guess I'm doing a good job adding all that water to his food!) but they gave him some subq fluids as a boost too. Oh, and his BG while there was 328, which is obviously high but given that he was at like peak stress, I'd say that's not so bad!

She sent us home with 4 Cerenia tablets, some Proviable Forte and a full prescription for more ondansetron. (I had worried about telling her that I gave him my own, but she didn't even blink at it lol :joyful:)

Hopefully we'll get results from the Spec fPLO tomorrow (or the next day). She said that she might have me come back in for some painkillers if it is positive for pancreatitis.

And that's all for us today! I hope everyone's had a nice uneventful Tuesday. :) I want to catch up on everyone's condos and will come back in a little bit for that.

A very not-happy boy who fully earned his Tuna with Salmon Churu once we got home!

ETA: In case anyone is wondering, the reason I haven't continued moving his shot times back to the usual 8:30 is because I'm going to be out next Monday night and probably arriving around the current delayed shot time. Instead of moving him all the way back to 8:30 for Wednesday and then immediately starting moving him the opposite direction for Monday, I just left him where he is and will shift back after that.

Oh sweet Xander
Poor guy went through a lot today. It seems there's been a lot of vet appointments lately. Something in the air purrrrhaps?
Hopefully you'll get some good news tomorrow.
In the meantime sending some PAWsitive and healing vines your way

There have been! Seems like almost everyone here's been going recently. They also told us that every cat they'd seen so far today had also had diabetes!

It'll be the first time I've gotten tests done this early in the week, so maybe I won't have to wait until next week to hear anything back! Crossing my fingers lol

Thanks, Karolina! ❤️

Aww Xander, poor guy. I’m sure he’s glad it’s over with now. Overall this seems like a good report though? The “P” seems manageable if it is that especially now that you’ve got the meds. Positive vibes for the rest of the test results :bighug:

He sure was happy to be home! Immediately cheerful. Must have been a combination of the relief and the fluids lol

It does! I mean, nothing is obviously wrong, at least. It would be hard to hear that they don't know why he's been feeling so badly, but I guess as long as we can manage it.

Thank you, Tim! :bighug:

Glad Xander was able to get in to see the Doc today. Sending vines to both of you and that the outcome of the tests help get him on the path to feeling much better very soon. :bighug::cat::bighug:

Vet visits are never fun. Poor Xander! But glad he perked up as soon as he was home.
There is a lot of good news there, Brianna, and hopefully more clarity on the rest as soon as the rest of the results come in.
Hope he starts feeling better soon too :bighug:
