4/1 Ruby AMPS 135/+3 74/+5 84/PMPS 88 FS /+2 89/+4 88

So strange. When did you first notice that? I read all about how the woman who created TC Feline, one of the premixes, feeds a lot of beef to all of her kitties and they all do well on it, and I thought for sure it would be the right thing for Butters, but she had other ideas! Seems Ruby does, too. Our kitties continue to want the fancy meats like bison.
I noticed the beef influencing Ruby's numbers yesterday when she kept getting big food bumps. Going to see how she reacts today after she had her BM and also now that she is few cycles into her reducie. Hard to say precisely what's going on here, but I think her numbers were definitely flatter on turkey, bison, and venison.

Interesting...I recently have been wondering if Bison has been giving Butters more of a food bump than Lamb & Elk, and Pork. I'm literally starting to driving myself bananas with this level of minutiae. lol.
I noticed on your SS you mentioned her BG shot up after she pooped. And I remember it happening at least once before. Just wanted to mention something that @Tina Marie and Jan once told me when Butters's numbers were once driving me nuts:
If Butters has delayed gastric emptying, that can cause unpredictable BG numbers. She could go low if the food stays in the stomach for too long, and shoot higher after BMs.
I determined this was not the case for Butters. But maybe something to ponder where Ruby is concerned?

I was talking about the beef last night with @Margaret (and Pearl) and she mentioned that lots of IBD kitties get inflammation from beef, which is different from allergy I guess because allergies usually lead to an obvious reaction like vomiting or diarrhea, whereas inflammation can be a systemwide blah. Ruby isn't sick from the beef, but maybe it's causing some inflammation. I've fed Ruby the rest of the thawed beef and I'm going to give it a rest for a few days to see if things improve.

Re: the BMs, but it's becoming clear to me that pooping causes Ruby some distress and it takes her a little while afterwards to feel better and for her BGs to come down IF it coincides with the dawn phenomenon of higher BGs in the AM. If she poops in the afternoon or evening she seems to be fine afterwards. It's helpful for me to know this so I don't get so bent out of shape by these high AMPS readings. These cats!

Guess what?! No fish today for Pearl, and MUCH better numbers. I think my fish experiment after so many tries in so many months is at an end, and I can safely conclude NO fish ingredients ever again, even if the bulk of the food/treat is a non-fish that Pearl can tolerate. (I mean, yes I did a teensy increase yesterday night, but it's only been 2 cycles).

Ruby is looking quite good today, too!

Well, I came home after being out all afternoon doing human things and put Ruby's evening meal in front of her. When I jabbed her with the needle, she cried out, so I pulled it out and found a different place to jab and pushed the plunger. Ran my hand over the spot after and smelled Lantus. Arrrrrrgh!

Her PMPS was so good, I hope I haven't really messed up here. I guess the night will tell us. SIGH!

I know you don't like those higher AMPS. I know the feeling :)
But otherwise she is looking really nice on the reduction.
Hi Mariette! Thanks for the visit. Ruby's numbers have been all over the place since the reducie, it's got me a bit on edge. Wish she would just stay in the 60s and 70s all day long. :) Hope you and Buddy are doing well! :bighug:

Wow, so the thing about fish isn't a myth. I don't really feed it to Ruby too much these days except when she gets MC and HC when I do want her BG higher, and even then it's only a small spoonful that she gets. There is green lipped mussel in the EZ Complete for omega 3s, but so far the EZC hasn't seemed to influence her BGs higher.

Oh no. Sorry about the fur shot! That sucks. It really does derail one because you can't get solid info from the numbers for a couple of days. I hope she stays stable for you.
That happened a few times with Buddy too. Sometimes he would barely notice the shot, other times I had to try over and over to find a spot he would tolerate. Our little fragile angels.

Ruby really brings that PS up when she needs to poo :D

So sorry for the FS hope it won’t confuse her numbers too much.

go Ruby, hold on to the reduction!!
