It's not an April Fool's story!

I'm sure some of you are already aware of this phenomenal program, but I just saw this on Animal Planet's 'Must Love Cats'.

The program at Penn Medical in Philadelphia for kidney transplants in cats.
Utterly amazing!
The recipient cats are obviously kitties in desperate need,
while the donor cats are all rescues from kill shelters, who- in return for their gift of life to a fellow animal- are guaranteed
a loving furever home (the recipient family is generally required to adopt the donor, but in the rare instances
where that is not possible, Penn Medical finds them a fully researched, committed furever family).

To date, they've performed 140 transplants, with a 90% successful acceptance transplant rate!

Two at risk lives saved with every operation .
Warms the heart, doesn't it??

I got such a warm fuzzy from watching the episode, that I couldn't wait to share it with you!

That is a wonderful story, but when I went to Catster to read it the story that caught my eye was about the Loews Hotels now trapping the TNR colonies they had been supporting on their grounds and sending them to high kill "shelters." http://www.catster.com/the-scoop/bu...ing-and-relocating-feral-cats-to-kill-shelter

Lowes ha a slogan "Loews Loves Pets" , yeah right! Let them know what you think of their new policy.

WOW, Ann! i was so excited about the transplant story, I totally missed the other news items ohmygod_smile .

Will we NEVER overcome the ignorance and cruelty???
It's almost beyond me how people can be so heartless :sad:
