Sorry for the brief condo post - I'm at work right now.

I missed yesterday's condo  , so our last condo was on Sunday: http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=116329 I've just been swamped the past couple of days.

We need some dosing advice this morning. We've dropped to 51 a couple of times on the 1 unit and are wondering if we need to try .75 for a while. We don't want to take a step back in our progress, but 51 is awfully close to the cut-off mark. DH was able to leave work this morning to stay with Jersey, but it won't be something we're able to do regularly. What do you all think? Is a reducie the right way to go?

Today's Numbers:

AMPS - 116, 1 unit
+1.75 - 51 (fed high-carb FF)
+2.25 - 69
+3.5 - 77
+4.5 - 58
+5 - 75
+6 - 59 (fed high-carb FF)
+6.75 - 64

*Jersey has also eaten low-carb FF throughout the morning, but I don't know the exact times of those feedings.

Thank you all for your help on this. I hope I get to visit some condos later today!

Re: 4/1 Jersey AMPS - 116; +1.75-51, +4.5-58; Dose Question

Shelly

We typically say if you are having to work hard to keep the numbers up OR it is a matter of you being able to shoot safely twice a day, then you might want to try a reduction. You need to do what makes you feel keeps her safe while you and DH are at work.

You can also split the difference and call it a fat 0.75. Do you use calipers to measure the dose? That helps us a lot to fine tune and be consistent.

It sounds like a reduction is a good idea to try and see how Jersey does. I also use calipers. Once you get used to them, they're great.

Re: 4/1 Jersey AMPS - 116; +1.75-51, +4.5-58; Dose Question

I might be interested in using calipers to make sure that I am doing consistent dosing for Rocky. Are they hard to use? How much do they cost? Do you have a photo of the tool that you are using? I am not doing and "fat' or 'skinny' doses for Rocky. I would just like be consistent. Thanks a bunch! :YMHUG:

Thanks so very much for the dose advice Carla, Marje, and Liz. I greatly appreciate it. We will decrease to .75 in the morning.

Liz, I do have calipers, although we haven't used them yet. I have them in my diabetes kit, along with Marje's instructions/pictures. We may end up having to do some skinny/fat dosing, but I'm really hoping that the .75 will work for us.

Tina - I think I paid about $12 for the calipers just a few weeks ago.

I have to go check in with my online classes and get their next set of assignments ready. I hope to BBL to visit others.

Thanks again, ladies!
Shelly

you have to do what works when you're working around life. I think you also got a timed feeder already, didn't you? if you haven't tried it yet, do it when you're home to make sure she'll eat from it. we fed punkin 2x a day out of the feeder even if we were home.

that lets you leave food for her to eat later.

depending on what you've got coming up schedule-wise, i'd consider just skinnying the dose too.
